EduAsiaNews, Jember – The Universitas Jember (UNEJ) contingent achieved outstanding results at the 17th Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship Expo (KMI Expo XVII) 2026, held from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2026, at Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (Unsoed) in Purwokerto.

At the national student entrepreneurship competition, UNEJ secured three awards through innovations in digital technology, safe educational products for children and cultural performances.

The achievements were delivered by the Agrivana team, which won third place in the Early-Stage Digital Business category for its innovation titled Agrivana: Smart Urban Farming Solutions in One Hand Based on Computer Vision and a Digital Ecosystem. The Crayona Artvanture Studio team won third runner-up in the Early-Stage Tourism Services and Trade category for its innovation titled Crayona Artvanture Studio: A Center for Developing Children’s Creativity Through Coloring Classes Using Non-Toxic Food-Grade Crayons. UNEJ also won second runner-up for its contingent’s performance in the KMI Expo XVII 2026 Cultural Parade.

Agrivana is an agritech platform based on computer vision and a digital ecosystem designed to provide smart urban farming solutions. The application features several key functions, including AI Plant Doctor for detecting plant diseases, Smart Growth Tracking, the “Vana” AI Agent and an integrated agricultural marketplace.

Agrivana CEO Wahyu Jum’ah Maulidan, a student at UNEJ’s Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom), said the achievement was the result of consistency and a lengthy validation process, from the university’s internal selection stage to funding through the Student Entrepreneur Development Program (P2MW). For his team, Agrivana’s strength lies in its ability to address the real needs of urban farming practitioners.

“Initially, we focused more on how to develop an application with attractive features. However, as we went deeper into the program, we realized that a product must truly be developed based on the needs of users in the field. Third place at KMI Expo is not the end point, but rather motivation for us to continue improving the AI Plant Doctor feature and the Agrivana ecosystem so that it can become a sustainable agritech platform with a tangible impact,” Wahyu said.

Agrivana’s transformation from an idea into a nationally recognized platform was supported by the university’s innovation ecosystem. The Agrivana team said its long journey, from proposal preparation and P2MW funding to reaching the winners’ podium, was fully supported through mentoring by the Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom) and the UNEJ P2MW Task Force Team. Through socialization sessions, regular evaluation and guidance, assistance in report preparation and intensive preparation for KMI Expo, the students developed their skills in business management, market research management and teamwork while balancing demanding academic activities.

Meanwhile, the Crayona Artvanture Studio team attracted the judges’ attention with its innovative environmentally oriented coloring classes for children. Crayona offers food-grade crayons made from beeswax and natural, non-toxic coloring agents, making them safe for children.

Crayona team leader Cristania Velia Bella, a student at UNEJ’s Faculty of Public Health (FKM), expressed her pride and emotion at bringing the product to the national podium in their first participation in KMI Expo.

“As first-time participants in KMI Expo, honestly, we never expected to reach the national podium. All the hard work during the preparation paid off when we saw the wide range of student innovations from across Indonesia and exchanged insights with them. This award has motivated us to continue developing Crayona, including expanding our range of natural colors and entering the digital ecosystem so that its benefits can reach a wider audience,” Cristania said.
