EduAsiaNews, Jimbaran — Universitas Udayana has reaffirmed its commitment to improving education quality and strengthening its quality assurance system through a field assessment of its undergraduate Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Education programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA). The assessment was held at the FMIPA Dean’s Office Building on the Jimbaran Campus on Wednesday (Sept. 30, 2026).

The field assessment was attended by Udayana University Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, assessors from the Indonesian Independent Accreditation Institute for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes), the chair of the FMIPA Senate, the dean and vice deans of FMIPA, the head of the Udayana University Library, the secretary of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), the secretary of the Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance (LP3M), the secretary of the Information Systems and Digitalization Unit (USDI), the FMIPA administrative coordinator, lecturers and other invited guests.

The LAM-PTKes assessment team comprised Dr. apt. Nunung Yuniarti, S.F., M.Si.; Prof. Dr. apt. Lucy Dewi N. Sasongko, M.Si.; and apt. Maria Philomena Erika Rengga, S.Farm., M.Farm-Klin.

The event was officially opened by Udayana University Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D. In his remarks, Prof. Sujaya expressed his appreciation for the assessors’ presence and emphasized the importance of the field assessment as part of Udayana University’s ongoing efforts to maintain and improve education quality.

“The Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Education programs are among Udayana University’s flagship programs in the health sciences cluster. Of the 136 study programs at the university, Pharmacy is among the top five in terms of the level of competition and strong interest among prospective students,” Prof. Sujaya said.

He said the high level of interest reflected the public’s strong confidence in the quality of Pharmacy education at Udayana University. Therefore, strengthening graduate competencies remains a key focus through a sustainable quality assurance system.

This commitment is also part of Udayana University’s development agenda as it transforms into a state university with legal entity status (PTN-BH). In this context, the university continues to strengthen the appeal and competitiveness of its study programs at both the national and international levels.

Prof. Sujaya also highlighted Bali’s potential as a strength that could be developed to reinforce the distinctive advantages of the Pharmacy Study Program. In addition to being a world-renowned tourism destination, Bali has a rich cultural heritage and local knowledge, including herbal healing traditions and Usada Bali, which could be integrated into the development of pharmaceutical science and research.

“Through research strengths such as the Wellness Nexus and the establishment of international classes, we hope the Pharmacy Study Program at Udayana University can develop unique characteristics that serve as a global reference,” he said.

Prof. Sujaya further said the assessors’ visit represented an important opportunity for Udayana University to receive input for the development and continuous improvement of the study programs.

“The assessors’ presence is a very valuable opportunity for us. Their input, recommendations and strategies for improving quality will serve as important points for follow-up in our evaluation of university management,” he said.

He also called on the FMIPA dean and all study program managers to provide open and comprehensive access to information and data to support the smooth implementation of the field assessment.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. apt. Lucy Dewi N. Sasongko, M.Si., representing the assessment team, congratulated Udayana University on its anniversary and on its achievement of officially becoming a PTN-BH. She expressed hope that the achievement would further strengthen Udayana University’s role at both the national and international levels.

Prof. Lucy explained that the field assessment was intended to provide constructive input for the development of the undergraduate Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Education programs. The assessment was scheduled to run for four days through Saturday, in accordance with the review requirements for the two programs.

“The field assessment is being conducted to complete and confirm the data previously presented in the Self-Evaluation Report (LED) and the Adequacy Assessment,” Prof. Lucy said.

She emphasized that the various questions and requests for supporting documents during the assessment were not intended to identify mistakes but to obtain a comprehensive picture of the conditions of the study programs.

“Our task is to assess the existing conditions, appreciate the good practices that are already in place, and identify areas that can still be improved,” she added.

In preparing the final report and recommendations, the assessment team will also provide notes or recommendations for each assessment criterion. According to Prof. Lucy, these recommendations are part of the commitment to continuous quality assurance and do not necessarily indicate inadequate performance.

The assessors expressed hope that good cooperation and communication with Udayana University, particularly the managers of the undergraduate Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Education programs, would continue throughout the assessment process.

The field assessment is an important part of Udayana University’s efforts to ensure that its Pharmacy and Pharmacist Professional Education programs consistently meet quality standards while responding to the increasingly dynamic needs of higher education in the health sciences. The input and recommendations from the assessment team are expected to provide a foundation for strengthening the programs and enhancing their competitiveness at both the national and international levels.
