EduAsiaNews, Riau – Students participating in the Impactful Community Service Program (Kukerta Berdampak) of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Riau (FK Unri), contributed to the Faculty’s 25th Anniversary Community Service Program by organizing animal healthcare services at State Junior High School 20 Dumai, located in Mundam Village, Medang Kampai District, Dumai City.

The animal healthcare services included cat and dog vaccinations as well as male cat sterilization, all of which received an enthusiastic response from local residents. The initiative served as a form of community engagement by FK Unri students and academic staff, supporting pet health while raising public awareness of the importance of animal health and welfare.

Through the Impactful Community Service Program, students were involved not only in community engagement activities focused on human health but also in efforts to prevent the spread of diseases among companion animals and promote responsible cat population management. Vaccinations were administered to help protect pets from various infectious diseases, while sterilization served as an important measure to maintain a healthier and more controlled animal population.

The animal healthcare services were carried out with the support of veterinarians, students, and partner organizations involved in the community service program. A number of pet owners took advantage of the opportunity to receive safe and free healthcare services for their animals.

This initiative reflects the commitment of FK Unri’s Impactful Community Service Program to delivering community engagement activities that provide tangible benefits to society. Through cat vaccination and sterilization services, FK Unri students sought to promote a healthier environment by increasing public awareness of pet health and its broader contribution to community well-being.
