EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The International Relations Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at UPN “Veteran” Jakarta successfully conducted a guest lecture for the Introduction to Big Data in International Relations course on Monday, March 31, 2026, featuring a speaker from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Yanu Endar Prasetyo, Ph.D. The event was held online via the Zoom platform and attended by students enrolled in the course.
During the guest lecture, Yanu Endar Prasetyo presented on the utilization of the Kumu.io platform as a tool for data analysis and visualization within the context of International Relations. The presentation covered how Kumu.io can be employed to map actor relationships, networks, and global issue dynamics in a more systematic and interactive manner, which is highly relevant in today’s era of big data.
The session was highly interactive, with students demonstrating great enthusiasm by actively asking questions ranging from technical aspects of using the platform to its application in research and analysis of international issues. The ensuing discussion enriched students’ understanding of data-driven approaches in International Relations studies.
The presence of a practitioner and researcher from BRIN provided students with practical and applicable insights, making the guest lecture an opportunity to encourage them to explore digital tools such as Kumu.io for big data analysis in International Relations. Furthermore, this event is expected to foster future research collaborations between faculty members and institutions like BRIN.
