EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Rector of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., has encouraged the Faculty of Medicine (FK) to strengthen innovation in education, research, and governance that delivers tangible benefits to public health. He conveyed this direction during the Faculty Tour held at the Faculty of Medicine Dean’s Office on Friday, July 10, 2026. The event served as a forum for evaluation and for strengthening synergy between the university leadership and the faculty in advancing UPNVJ as an excellent and impactful higher education institution.
During the meeting, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. dr. Taufiq Fredrik Pasiak, M.Kes., M.Pd.I., M.H., CIPA, presented the concept of a Human-Centered Medical Education Ecosystem. The concept places people at the center of medical education through dynamic interactions among students, lecturers, teaching hospitals, research, academic culture, technology, professional networks, and the wider community.
The ecosystem is designed to produce graduates, research, and innovations that effectively address public health needs. The Faculty of Medicine has also introduced the paradigm “From Academic Achievement to Societal Health Impact,” emphasizing that the faculty’s success should be measured not only by academic excellence but also by its contribution to solving public health challenges.
Responding to the presentation, Prof. Anter Venus expressed his appreciation for the Faculty of Medicine’s various initiatives. He stated that the university continues to provide every faculty with the opportunity to develop innovations that reflect their respective academic disciplines and organizational needs.
“The university consistently provides every faculty with the opportunity to innovate, from strengthening student character development and enhancing academic achievement to developing more effective management systems. The ideas presented by the Faculty of Medicine are highly commendable and deserve continued development,” said Prof. Anter Venus.
The Rector emphasized that innovation should receive greater emphasis in faculty performance assessment. According to him, innovation extends beyond research products to include systems, applications, learning methods, and management models that improve organizational effectiveness.
“Innovation should become one of our key performance indicators. Every faculty has its own distinctive approach to innovation. The Faculty of Medicine has demonstrated an impressive development of systems and approaches. These best practices have the potential to be replicated across other faculties to strengthen institutional transformation as a whole,” he said.
Prof. Anter Venus further stressed that the direction of higher education today must be driven by meaningful impact. Universities should not only produce academically accomplished graduates but also equip them with the competencies needed to provide solutions to societal challenges.
“The excellence of a university is no longer measured solely by academic achievements. More importantly, it is determined by how graduates, lecturers, research, and innovations create tangible impacts, address societal challenges, and provide solutions across various sectors, including healthcare,” he remarked.
The Faculty Tour forum also addressed several strategic issues related to human resource development and the resolution of personnel administration. The Rector affirmed that the university continues to coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure that every process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations while upholding the principles of fairness and humanity.
“In every policy, we must not focus solely on administrative and technical aspects. The fundamental objective is to ensure that every policy promotes fairness and delivers meaningful benefits to the entire academic community. Therefore, we continue to pursue the best possible solutions through constructive coordination and communication,” he explained.
The Rector added that UPNVJ will continue to foster open dialogue and seek alternative solutions to the various challenges facing the institution. All efforts, he emphasized, will remain fully aligned with prevailing regulations.
“We remain optimistic that there is always room to find common ground. As long as opportunities exist within the regulatory framework, the university will continue to advocate for the best interests of our academic community and the advancement of the institution,” he said.
Through the Faculty Tour program, UPNVJ continues to strengthen communication and collaboration between the university leadership and its faculties in formulating strategic policies. The Rector expressed his hope that this synergy would accelerate the development of the Faculty of Medicine into a human-centered, innovative medical education institution capable of making meaningful contributions to improving public health and community well-being.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
