EduAsiaNews, Thailand – Chulalongkorn University, through its Institute of Asian Studies, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand, hosted the inaugural Korea–Thailand Future Cooperation Forum on October 20, 2026, at the conference room on the 8th floor of the Chalerm Rajakumari 60th Anniversary Building (Chamchuri 10), Chulalongkorn University.

The forum opened with welcoming remarks by Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, followed by opening remarks from Mr. Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand. Mr. Park Yun-joo, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, then delivered congratulatory remarks, while Mr. Sarun Charoensuwan, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, delivered a special address.

The Korea–Thailand Future Cooperation Forum was organized to explore new opportunities for collaboration between South Korea and Thailand in emerging industries. Experts from both countries exchanged views on policies, industry trends, and investment directions, while discussing potential cooperation in artificial intelligence (AI), including its applications in industry and the content sector. Topics covered the development of intellectual property (IP), support for creators, localization of content for target markets, and expansion into international markets. The forum aimed to leverage the complementary strengths of both countries to lay the groundwork for tangible industrial cooperation. The morning session focused on AI Industrial Cooperation, while the afternoon session addressed Content Industrial Cooperation.

Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, stated, “Although AI can now perform many tasks traditionally done by humans, creativity and emotion remain uniquely human.

The development of Artificial Intelligence must therefore go hand in hand with Human Intelligence. The university has applied AI as a creative tool to develop commercial entertainment content for international markets, helping drive Thailand’s economy, much like the K-Pop model, which has contributed to South Korea’s GDP.”

“In addition, the university is transforming its role from delivering knowledge through one-way communication to providing students with real-world experiences that nurture creativity and new ideas. These are essential drivers of the creative economy and its sustainable growth on the global stage.”

Mr. Park Yong-min, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Thailand, said the forum brought Thai and South Korean experts together to exchange ideas and strengthen bilateral cooperation. He highlighted opportunities in logistics and e-commerce, automotive and electric vehicles, electronic components, tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions), and data centers. These sectors could benefit from combining South Korea’s expertise in industrial AI with Thailand’s industrial capabilities and market potential.

“Combining South Korea’s strength in content production with Thailand’s diverse cultural assets could make content from both countries more competitive globally while boosting tourism and local economies. It could also create new business opportunities and economic value for both countries. Recognizing this potential, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Thailand and Chulalongkorn University jointly organized this forum.”

The inaugural Korea–Thailand Future Cooperation Forum marks an important step toward connecting the knowledge, technologies, and capabilities of Thailand and South Korea to advance practical cooperation in AI and the content industry. The forum also seeks to build on these efforts to create new business opportunities, generate greater economic value, and strengthen both countries’ global competitiveness sustainably.
