
EduAsiaNews, Thailand – Chulalongkorn University, through its Faculty of Science, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Synchrotron Light Research Institute (Public Organization) to renew their academic collaboration on the official use of synchrotron light facilities.
The MOU signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 215, Chemistry Building 2, Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University. The event began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Pranut Potiyaraj, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, who welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saroj Rujirawat, Director of the Synchrotron Light Research Institute, along with the institute’s executives and distinguished guests. Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, then delivered the opening remarks and spoke about the collaboration. This was followed by remarks on the partnership from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saroj Rujirawat, Director of the Synchrotron Light Research Institute, before representatives of the two institutions formally signed the agreement.
The academic collaboration aims to maximize benefits for the university’s teaching and learning, academic services, and research activities. It covers various areas, including the education and training of undergraduate and graduate students; access to research laboratories, scientific equipment, and infrastructure; and the exchange of personnel, information, research findings, and theses. Chulalongkorn University is a leading educational and research institution with outstanding capabilities and strong readiness in terms of academic expertise, research, and personnel.
This renewal of academic cooperation not only reflects Chulalongkorn University’s commitment to achieving excellence at the international level, remaining open to learning new things, adapting confidently to changing circumstances, and creating positive change for society and the country, but also represents another important step in combining the expertise of the two institutions.
Through the application of advanced analytical technologies using synchrotron light, the collaboration will support in-depth research across fields including science, technology, engineering, medicine, and pharmaceuticals. The resulting knowledge and findings will be further developed for academic and research applications, helping propel Thailand onto the international stage and strengthen its leadership in these fields.
Furthermore, the outcomes of this collaboration can be translated into economic and social applications, contributing to Thailand’s transition from a middle-income country to a high-income country with advanced capabilities in technology and innovation.
