EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized the importance of adapting to technological advances without compromising security, privacy, and ethics in everyday life. He delivered the message in his opening remarks at the 2026 UPNVJ Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) webinar, held at the BEJ Hall, M.H. Thamrin Building, Faculty of Economics and Business, UPNVJ, on Monday, October 26, 2026.

Titled “Building Resilient Families in the Digital Era: Digital Literacy, Security, and Ethics in the Family,” the event served as an educational forum to raise public awareness of digital skills, particularly within the family environment.

In his remarks, the Rector explained that technological advances had significantly transformed how people work, learn, communicate, and live.

“Our world has changed. Technology is becoming increasingly sophisticated, and we must be able to adapt to live safely and comfortably in this era,” Venus said.

He noted that keeping pace with technological developments was an unavoidable necessity. However, adaptation must go hand in hand with an understanding of each individual’s responsibility when using technology.

The Rector highlighted three key aspects that people should consider when interacting in digital spaces: privacy protection, ethical conduct, and courtesy.

He cautioned that technological progress must not erode the values that have long served as the foundation of social relationships.

“When we talk about the digital world, we are also talking about privacy, ethics, and the courtesy we must continue to uphold,” he stressed.

Venus also highlighted the role of Dharma Wanita Persatuan as an organization closely connected to family life.

He said DWP was well positioned to provide education on digital challenges because digital awareness directly affects everyday life.

Within families, values such as responsibility, caution, and ethical technology use can be introduced and practiced consistently.

The Rector therefore welcomed the webinar, which addressed digital literacy, security, and ethics in the family.

He expressed hope that the event would help participants understand that digital competence involves more than simply using electronic devices or accessing information online.

It also requires the ability to protect personal information, understand the consequences of online activities, and communicate responsibly.

The Rector’s message underscored the importance of strengthening digital literacy as part of efforts to build a society that can adapt to technological developments.

Through educational activities organized by DWP UPNVJ, the university encourages the responsible use of technology while maintaining security, ethics, and human values as fundamental principles.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
