EduAsiaNews, Riau — Riau University (Unri) has encouraged students receiving the Indonesia Smart College Card (KIP-K) scholarship to make the most of the opportunity to pursue higher education.
The message was delivered during a forum for KIP-K scholarship recipients from the 2023, 2024 and 2025 cohorts, held under the theme “KIP-K Students Achieving Excellence, a Community-Oriented and Inspiring Campus: Building a Spirit of Creativity and Contribution” at Unri’s Student Center on Saturday (Sept. 19, 2026).
The event opened with a report from organizing committee chairman Suhardi SP, followed by remarks and the official opening by Unri Rector Prof. Sri Indarti, SE, M.Si., represented by Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Hermandra, MA.
In his remarks, Hermandra stressed the responsibility of KIP-K recipients to complete their studies within the stipulated period. He said the opportunity to receive financial assistance through KIP-K was a form of support that should be used to the fullest.
Students, he said, should therefore take their studies seriously and not waste the opportunity.
He also said Unri was committed to helping students overcome various challenges that could hinder the completion of their studies, particularly academic difficulties.
“If you encounter an academic problem, come and see me. This is our commitment to helping students graduate on time. Do not let academic problems become an obstacle to completing your education,” he said.
The KIP-K forum was attended by scholarship recipients from several cohorts, including:
- 2023 cohort: 1,394 students
- 2024 cohort: 1,403 students
- 2025 cohort: 1,216 students
The participants also received insights from several speakers, including Herbina, SE, branch manager of BNI’s Panam sub-branch; Unri lecturer Muryanti, S.Pd., M.Sc., from the Non-Formal Education Study Program; and Surya Syahrani, S.Kom., M.Kom., head of Unri’s Student Affairs Team.
The speakers were expected to provide students with new perspectives and motivation to develop themselves during their time at the university.
The event concluded with the presentation of the 2026 KIP-K Outstanding Student Awards by Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Alumni Prof. Hermandra, MA.
Ahmad Kurniawan of the Faculty of Economics and Business received the first award, followed by Nuril Yasrul, also from the Faculty of Economics and Business, in second place, and Revina Wilda Putri of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in third place.
Through the KIP-K student forum, Unri continues to encourage students to strive for academic achievement, create, inspire and contribute. The university hopes that the educational support provided through KIP-K will help shape a generation capable of making a positive contribution to their families, alma mater and society.
