EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) marked the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence by celebrating a series of institutional achievements and performance milestones recorded over the past two months.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., together with members of the university leadership, cut a traditional tumpeng at the Faculty of Medicine courtyard at the Pondok Labu Campus in South Jakarta on Monday (August 17, 2026), following the Independence Day ceremony. The event served as an expression of appreciation for the faculties, institutions, lecturers, administrative staff, students, and other members of the university community who have contributed to UPNVJ’s continued development.
The tumpeng ceremony was more than a celebration. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the collective efforts that have produced achievements across several areas, including accreditation, academic program development, institutional reputation, innovation, and digital transformation.
Among the recent milestones was the Master of Management Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), which earned an Excellent Accreditation rating. The achievement further strengthened UPNVJ’s academic quality. As of July 2026, the university had 44 study programs, with approximately 45 percent holding Excellent or A accreditation status.
Similar progress was recorded by the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES). Its Bachelor of Nursing Program and Professional Nursing Education Program received Excellent Accreditation from LAM-PTKes in early August 2026.
At the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), the Bachelor’s Program in Political Science also achieved Excellent Accreditation after undergoing a comprehensive evaluation covering governance, faculty quality, curriculum, research and community service, student achievements, alumni performance, and institutional partnerships.
The Faculty of Law (FH) likewise recorded notable achievements, including recognition as one of the top nominees among state universities in Western Indonesia and accomplishments in legal literacy. These achievements further reinforce the faculty’s contribution to legal education and efforts to promote legal awareness in society.
Meanwhile, all study programs at the Faculty of Engineering (FT) that have undergone accreditation are now rated Excellent. According to UPNVJ accreditation data, the Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Naval Engineering, and Electrical Engineering programs currently hold Excellent accreditation. In addition to strengthening academic quality, the faculty has continued to build its academic reputation through high-profile seminars and expand its educational offerings through the development of new study programs.
In medical education, the Faculty of Medicine (FK) secured eight-year full accreditation for two study programs. These quality improvements have been accompanied by preparations for international accreditation and the expansion of educational programs in medicine and health sciences. Intensive preparations for the international accreditation of the Medical Study Program have been underway since early 2026.
Digital transformation has also continued at the Faculty of Computer Science (FIK) through the development of OneUPNVJ, an integrated digital ecosystem designed to consolidate university applications, integrate data, and streamline business processes. The initiative represents part of UPNVJ’s transition from a digital campus toward a smart university.
The achievements recorded across the university’s seven faculties demonstrate that UPNVJ’s quality improvement efforts are progressing across multiple dimensions, from study program quality and academic reputation to disciplinary development, service innovation, and digital governance. They also indicate that institutional targets are increasingly translating from strategic plans into measurable outcomes.
For UPNVJ, the spirit of Independence therefore extends beyond ceremonies and commemorative events. Independence is reflected in the university’s capacity to continue developing, innovating, improving educational quality, and generating meaningful benefits for students and society.
The tumpeng cutting symbolized the collective nature of these achievements. The university leadership’s direction has been translated into concrete work by deans, heads of institutions and units, lecturers, administrative staff, and students, resulting in progress that can be shared across the university community.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., views these achievements not as an endpoint, but as a foundation for accelerating the university’s transformation. A culture of quality, collaboration, innovation, academic reputation-building, and improved services must continue to be strengthened so that recent accomplishments can evolve into sustainable institutional excellence.
This spirit is in line with the official theme of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Anniversary, “Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.” For UPNVJ, as a State Defense University, this contribution is manifested through quality education, innovation, the advancement of knowledge, and impactful community engagement for the benefit of the nation.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
