EduAsiaNews, Yogyakarta – Efforts to strengthen the local economy continue to be intensified through the integration of digital innovation. Students of the Off-Campus Learning Program (PLK) at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) carried out a digital rebranding initiative for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Duwet Hamlet, Banjarharjo, Kalibawang, Kulon Progo. One of the primary focuses of this initiative was to support the development of brand identity and digital marketing for the locally owned rengginang business, “Leo.”

This initiative was led by a group of PLK students headed by Entin Listiani, along with nine members: Linda Dwi Rahmawati, Eko Wardoyo, Gadissya Putri Atyanto, Yunita Wahyu Faradina, Lintang Acantya Naraiswari Rahman, Bagus Ahmad Nur Fadilah, Septi Nuryani, Panca Azril Mutaqin, and Faiz Ahmad Qushayyi. The program represents a tangible contribution by students in supporting the digital transformation of MSMEs.

In its implementation, the PLK team provided various forms of assistance, including the creation of product catalogs, QRIS setup, Linktree accounts, email accounts, product photography, and the utilization of digital social media platforms to expand market reach.

The team leader, Entin Listiani, emphasized that the initiative aims to enhance the competitiveness of local MSMEs so they can sustain and grow amid increasingly competitive market conditions.

“Through this digital rebranding, we aim to help MSMEs become recognized not only within their local communities but also gain opportunities to reach broader markets. We hope that simple innovations, such as improved packaging and digital marketing, can have a significant impact on increasing sales,” Entin stated on Monday (April 27, 2026).

She further added that the approach taken was not merely technical but also participatory, involving business owners in every stage of the process to ensure sustainable outcomes.

Meanwhile, Iswanta, the owner of the “Leo” rengginang business, expressed his appreciation for the assistance provided by the UNY PLK students. According to him, the program offered new insights that he had not previously applied in managing his business. “This activity has been highly beneficial for us. I now better understand the importance of product presentation and online marketing. Our products now look more appealing and are ready to compete,” he said. He also expressed hope that similar assistance programs would continue, enabling MSMEs in the area to grow further and contribute to improving community welfare.

Through this initiative, UNY PLK students not only applied the knowledge they acquired during their studies but also played an active role in community empowerment. This digital rebranding program is expected to serve as an initial step for MSMEs in Duwet Hamlet to transform and adapt to technological advancements while strengthening the local economy based on village potential.

This initiative aligns with efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 8 on decent work and economic growth, and Goal 9 on industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Through synergy between students and the community, it is hoped that local MSMEs can advance to a higher level and become key pillars of the regional economy.
