EduAsiaNews, Malang — Universitas Negeri Malang (UM) conducted the 2026 Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) under the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT) on Tuesday (April 21). On its first day, the examination proceeded smoothly and in an orderly manner, with no disruptions reported throughout its implementation.

In accordance with central committee policy, participants were not allowed to directly select their test locations but could only choose their preferred city. A total of 19,640 participants took part in the UTBK at UM.

“Applicants for the 2026 student admission process cannot determine their test locations and may only select their destination city to minimize potential fraud that occurred in previous years,” stated the Rector of UM, Hariyono.

To support the implementation of the UTBK, UM prepared 67 examination rooms across various faculties. These facilities were supported by 1,304 computer units, accommodating up to 2,608 participants per day in two sessions.

To ensure participants’ comfort, all computer equipment and internet networks were optimally prepared. In addition, the examination environment was maintained to remain conducive throughout the process.

In terms of services, UM also paid special attention to participants with special needs. A total of 11 participants with disabilities took part in this year’s UTBK, receiving direct assistance from the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Gempita UM and being assigned to easily accessible examination locations.

To guarantee the security and integrity of the examination, UM implemented strict procedures, including pre-entry checks, the use of metal detectors, the deactivation of CCTV in examination rooms, and close supervision by trained proctors and technicians.

“We have taken additional measures by turning off CCTV cameras in the examination rooms during the UTBK to maintain the confidentiality of the test materials,” the Rector added.

Furthermore, UM implemented an online learning policy for all students during the UTBK period to reduce campus congestion. This measure was supported by 76 security personnel stationed at various strategic points. The Rector, Hariyono, also shared a message for participants on the following days.

“We hope participants will arrive earlier and remain calm while taking the examination,” he stated.

With the facilities and services provided, UM is committed to delivering a UTBK implementation that is secure, comfortable, and upholds the principles of integrity and transparency.
