In the 2026 SNBP Pathway, the Film, TV, and Cinema Study Program Ranks Among the Top 4 Most Competitive Programs Nationally

EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Undergraduate Program in Film, Television, and Media Studies at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran” Jakarta, ranked as the most competitive program at UPN “Veteran” Jakarta in the 2026 National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway. Moreover, it secured a position among the top 4 most competitive programs nationally.

Within the national top 10 most competitive programs, the FTM Studies Program ranked 4th, with a competitiveness rate of 0.96%, as 831 applicants competed for just 8 available seats. While the top 10 is dominated by exact sciences, the FTM Studies Program stands out as one of the few social science programs to make it into this prestigious list.

This figure reflects the high public interest in the FTM program, aligning with the rapid development of technology and media, particularly in film and television. Such dynamics require human resources that understand and can respond to contemporary needs.

The targeted graduate profiles for the FTM Studies Program include:

Documentary Filmmaker: Graduates capable of producing documentary films with a sense of national service; actively involved in all stages of documentary production; creative in processing data, facts, and reality; sensitive to moral values, universality, and humanity; and able to ensure legal compliance in narrative content, subjects, and filming locations.
Film, Television, and Media Researcher: Graduates able to collect and analyze factual data related to film, television, and media; able to map data needs for audiovisual techniques, story content, and production management in the media industry.
Film Critic: Graduates able to produce scholarly, technological, and artistic analyses in film, television, and media; analyze formal elements of media; master the language of film and media; and interpret messages, signs, and meanings in these mediums.
Multimedia Journalist: Graduates capable of designing journalistic content across multimedia platforms to meet industry standards; analyzing trending topics in multimedia reporting; conducting media research; managing public issues and opinions; and mastering communication, public speaking, and media production skills.

The FTM Undergraduate Program was established in 2024. In 2026, it is welcoming its third cohort of students. The program officially began on July 8, 2024, following approval from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology through Decree No. 415/E/O/2024.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
