EduAsiaNews, Pekanbaru — Universitas Riau (Unri) continues to strengthen its strategic collaborations with various parties, particularly in developing high-quality human resources in the fields of economics and central banking. This commitment was realized through the Socialization of Central Banking Education Assistance and the Signing of a Renewed Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with Bank Indonesia, on Thursday (2/4/2026), at the Integrated Classroom Building, Binawidya Campus.

Unri Rector Prof. Dr. Sri Indarti, S.E., M.Si., in her remarks, affirmed that the program marks a strategic turning point in shaping the direction of higher education collaboration. “The signing of this renewed cooperation agreement is a shared commitment to building superior human resources capable of safeguarding the nation’s economic stability,” said Sri. She further emphasized that the partnership holds strategic significance across three key dimensions: strengthening students’ economic literacy, developing a relevant research ecosystem, and broadening access to education through tangible support for high-achieving students.

The Rector also noted that amid a global landscape fraught with uncertainty, universities bear a great responsibility to produce graduates who not only understand economics, but are also capable of becoming drivers of change and policymakers of the future. “We at Unri view this inter-university synergy as a powerful force in advancing regional and national progress. We hope this collaboration will grow beyond what it has been, in both quality and impact , so as to foster innovation, broaden its benefits, and make a real contribution to society,” she asserted.

The event was attended by the Head of Bank Indonesia’s Riau Provincial Representative Office, Panji Achmad, along with his team and the leadership of universities across Riau. On the occasion, Bank Indonesia also conveyed its support for human resource development through sustained education and research programs. Also present were senior Unri officials and representatives from higher education institutions throughout the province, including UIN Suska Riau, Universitas Islam Riau, Universitas Muhammadiyah Riau, Universitas Lancang Kuning, Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis, and ITB Riau Pesisir — a turnout that reflects the strong spirit of collaboration among universities across the Riau region.

The cooperation, covering the period 2026–2028, concluded with a discussion session and the formal signing of the agreement, marking a concrete step forward in the partnership between Bank Indonesia and the universities of Riau. (**)
