EduAsiaNews, Surabaya – Universitas Negeri Surabaya has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Honorary Consul of India in Surabaya to strengthen international collaboration. The signing ceremony took place on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Room 801, 8th Floor, Rectorate Building, Campus 2 Lidah Wetan, following up on earlier exploratory meetings.

The MoU provides a formal foundation for collaboration in education and culture. The scope of the agreement includes scholarship opportunities for students and alumni, cultural exchange programs, and the development of sports and cinematography sectors.

Unesa’s Vice Rector IV for Planning, Development, Cooperation, and Information & Communication Technology, Dwi Cahyo Kartiko, emphasized that this signing marks an important milestone in transforming communication plans into concrete actions.

“This collaboration is not limited to academics but also encompasses the exchange of ideas and broader cultural experiences. As an initial step, we will hold a Preksha meditation session on Saturday, April 4, 2026,” he explained.

In agreement, the Honorary Consul of India, Manoj Bhat, highlighted Unesa’s role in fostering strong coordination between India and Indonesia in the field of education. He underscored the importance of self-exploration through various media, including cinema.

As part of the signing event, an inspirational Indian film screening was held for students in the Unesa Library Auditorium. Manoj Bhat noted that the selected film carries a message of adventure and courage, intended to motivate students to explore their potential.

Looking ahead, the MoU’s implementation will expand with additional cultural activities. Besides meditation, both parties have planned traditional Indian dance performances and a celebration of the International Day of Yoga on campus on June 21.
