UNP and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Sign a Memorandum of Understanding”

EduAsiaNews, Padang — In support of the strategic programs of the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in expanding access to justice through the establishment of Village/Sub-district Legal Aid Posts (Posbankum), the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law in West Sumatra has successfully achieved 100% establishment of Legal Aid Posts across 1,265 villages/sub-districts in the Province of West Sumatra.

In relation to this achievement, an inauguration of the Legal Aid Posts in West Sumatra Province will be held by the Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, involving several universities in West Sumatra, including Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP), implemented through the Community Service Program (KKN). In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing was conducted between UNP—represented by the Rector through the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FIS), Afriva Khaidir, S.H., M.Hum., MAPA, Ph.D.—and the Ministry of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, represented by the Minister of Law, Supratman Andi Agtas, on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Governor’s Office of West Sumatra. The event was also attended by the Governor of West Sumatra, H. Mahyeldi Ansyarullah, and the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of West Sumatra, Dr. Alpius Sarumaha, S.H., M.H.

As a follow-up to this activity, UNP will collaborate with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights in developing the Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH), considering that as a State University with Legal Entity status (PTNBH), UNP has produced numerous legal instruments, including Rector Regulations.

The Dean of FIS UNP, Afriva Khaidir, stated to the Public Relations Office, “UNP is ready to collaborate with the Ministry and the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of West Sumatra, as the Faculty of Social Sciences has established a Law Study Program three years ago, which continues to grow and build partnerships with various related government institutions such as the District Attorney’s Office and the High Prosecutor’s Office.”
