EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), Prof. Neneng Siti Silfi Ambarwati, attended the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Engineering Deans Forum, held at the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Udayana, Bali, from March 29 to April 2, 2026.

The forum was attended by approximately 260 deans from various engineering faculties across Indonesia, from both public and private universities. The presence of these academic leaders provided a strategic opportunity to strengthen synergy and collaboration across campuses.

The Rakernas served as an important platform to discuss strategic issues in higher education for engineering, including improving education quality, strengthening research and innovation, and developing inter-university cooperation. The forum also encouraged the exchange of ideas and best practices in faculty management amid the ongoing transformation of higher education.

“The presence of Universitas Negeri Jakarta, particularly the Faculty of Engineering, at FDTI 2026 Rakernas is highly strategic. This forum serves not only as a networking opportunity but also as a national consolidation space for engineering faculty leaders to align the direction of engineering education development in Indonesia,” stated Prof. Neneng.

She added that the Rakernas provides opportunities to enhance UNJ’s national and international recognition, including the development of study programs based on global standards such as IABEE accreditation.

During the forum, discussions also focused on the establishment of the Professional Engineer Program (PSPPI), which requires a minimum of five engineering study programs with at least 50% accredited at an excellent level, strengthening outcome-based education (OBE) curricula aligned with industry needs, and enhancing national collaboration through FDTI, including student development and innovation initiatives.

Prof. Neneng emphasized that strengthened synergy among engineering faculties in Indonesia can accelerate the improvement of education quality, achievement of excellent accreditation, and support more study programs in attaining international accreditation.

“We also hope this forum can strengthen Indonesia’s position in producing adaptive, innovative engineering graduates who are ready to compete globally,” she concluded.

At the event, a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) was also signed to enhance the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

“We see this agreement as an opportunity for research collaboration, community service, joint publications, faculty and student exchanges, strengthening teaching factories and industry partnerships, as well as curriculum and international program development,” Prof. Neneng explained.

The participation of the Dean of FT UNJ in this national forum reflects Universitas Negeri Jakarta’s commitment to expanding collaborative networks, enhancing national competitiveness, and sustainably improving the quality of engineering education. Through the synergy built in forums like this, UNJ aims to contribute to producing highly competent, competitive engineering graduates capable of addressing national and international development challenges.
