EduAsiaNews, Kuala Lumpur — A student of the University of Bangka Belitung (UBB), Reva Yaby, from the Accounting Department, appeared as one of Indonesia’s representatives at the Asia World Muslim Summit 2026, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from February 28 to March 6, 2026. The international forum, organized by STUDEC International, brought together Muslim youth from various countries to discuss global leadership, innovation, and Islamic values in addressing contemporary challenges. Reva said she first learned about the prestigious event through social media and youth community networks, before eventually passing a rigorous selection process.

At the international forum stage, Reva raised the issue of mining in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province, which remains a crucial concern from both environmental and social perspectives. She highlighted the tendency among some local youth to adopt a pragmatic view of the mining sector, prioritizing short-term economic benefits over long-term environmental sustainability and the region’s future. Her courage in bringing a local issue to a global forum reflects the growing critical awareness among the younger generation in Bangka Belitung.

Beyond voicing critical perspectives, Reva also presented the results of group discussions emphasizing the importance of active youth participation in building collective awareness of sustainable development principles. The forum also served as a cross-national dialogue platform to formulate shared ideas on leadership, innovation, and collaboration among Muslim youth in addressing increasingly complex global challenges.

Reva’s participation in the international forum has also brought the name of the University of Bangka Belitung to the global stage, while expanding academic and youth networks across countries. Her presence demonstrates that regional universities are equally capable of producing students who think beyond geographical boundaries, bringing local issues into broader contexts and solutions.
