EduAsiaNews, Semarang – The Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Diponegoro (FK UNDIP) held an international guest lecture titled “Public Health Foundations: Families, Systems, and Society” on Wednesday (March 26, 2026). The event, conducted in a hybrid format at the Smart Class of the Mayjen dr. R. Soewondo Sastrodiprojo Building in Tembalang, featured experts from Japan to discuss the global epidemiological transition.
The event highlighted the importance of shifting medical approaches amid the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). The Head of the Medical Study Program at FK UNDIP, dr. Santoso, M.Si.Med., Sp.N., emphasized that today’s medical students must be able to adapt to the shift in health paradigms—from simple clinical approaches to community-based approaches.
“We invited experts from Tottori University and Kagoshima University to share their experiences in family medicine and lifestyle diseases. Students are expected to understand these phenomena comprehensively, ranging from patient-centered and family-centered to community-centered approaches in healthcare services,” said dr. Santoso.
