EduAsiaNews, Surakarta — In commemoration of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, the leadership of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta conducted a silaturahmi (courtesy visit) to the residences of former rectors. On this occasion, the UNS leadership visited the residence of the UNS Rector for the 2011–2019 period (two terms), Prof. Dr. Ravik Karsidi, M.S., located in Perum UNS, Jati, Karanganyar, as well as the residence of the UNS Rector for the 2019–2024 period, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., in Kadipiro, Surakarta, on Saturday (March 28, 2026).

This activity serves as a form of respect as well as an effort to strengthen the bonds of kinship within the extended UNS family. The gathering, held in a warm and familial atmosphere, was led directly by the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., accompanied by the Vice Rectors, Deans, and Directors within the UNS environment.

The Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., stated that the contributions of former rectors have played a significant role in the journey and advancement of UNS to this day. Therefore, maintaining communication and strong relationships with predecessors is an essential part of ensuring institutional continuity.

“We are making use of this Eid al-Fitr momentum to reconnect and to seek the blessings and prayers of our former rectors so that UNS may continue to progress, grow, and provide its best contributions to the nation and the state,” said Prof. Hartono.

The UNS Rector for the 2011–2019 period, Prof. Dr. Ravik Karsidi, M.S., expressed his pride and appreciation for the continuity of leadership at UNS, which has been well maintained. From one rector to the next, the leadership transition has functioned as an inseparable continuum, complementing and strengthening one another.

“I deeply appreciate the Rector’s initiative in preserving this silaturahmi as part of a valuable tradition. The increasingly notable achievements of UNS, both at the national and international levels, are a shared source of pride, and I hope they will continue to improve in the future. We all share a sense of belonging toward UNS; therefore, the responsibility to preserve and advance it is a collective one. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the members of Dharma Wanita for their remarkable support, as the role of family is crucial in sustaining the success of our service. I kindly ask for your prayers and blessings so that we may all be granted good health, longevity, and the strength to continue contributing,” explained Prof. Ravik.

The UNS Rector for the 2019–2024 period, Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., noted that traditions such as this silaturahmi are a distinctive characteristic of UNS. Not all universities consistently maintain close relationships with former rectors as part of their extended institutional family. This tradition reflects the noble value of honoring predecessors who have contributed to building and developing UNS into what it is today.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you, especially the Rector and the entire leadership team, for taking the time to attend and engage in this gathering. Your presence is both a joy and an honor for us,” said Prof. Jamal.

On this occasion, Prof. Jamal also conveyed his sincere apologies should there have been any shortcomings in the reception, whether in terms of the venue or the arrangements provided.

“May this gathering bring blessings, strengthen our bonds of brotherhood, and further reinforce the sense of family among us all,” he added.

During the visits to both Prof. Ravik’s and Prof. Jamal’s residences, warm and engaging discussions took place. The conversations not only served as a means of reconnecting but were also enriched with valuable insights, shared experiences, and constructive perspectives from the former rectors. Various ideas and aspirations were expressed as intellectual contributions to support the future development of UNS, enabling it to become increasingly advanced, adaptive, and competitive at both the national and international levels.
