EduAsiaNews, Surabaya — Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) officially announced 68 candidates for the 2026 Golden Ticket recipients on Friday (March 27, 2026). This highly competitive selection involved 1,690 schools from various regions across all provinces in Indonesia. The event was conducted in a hybrid format at the Hall, 1st Floor of the Management Building, MERR-C Campus, and online via Zoom Meeting and UNAIR’s YouTube channel.
The Rector of UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin, stated that the level of enthusiasm among applicants for this year’s Golden Ticket was exceptionally high. A total of 3,855 students registered, competing for the opportunity to become part of Ksatria Airlangga.
High Enthusiasm and Intense Competition
He further explained that the large number of applicants reflects public trust in the quality of education at UNAIR. To ensure objectivity in the selection process, UNAIR implemented a quadrant-based mapping system.
“This quadrant represents a combination of academic achievement, which we refer to as Academic Excellence, and non-academic achievement, or Achievement Excellence, allowing for a more comprehensive and fair evaluation,” he explained.
Prof. Madyan elaborated that, following the initial selection process, 207 students were placed in Quadrant 1, and 68 students in Quadrant 2. These figures indicate the presence of many outstanding young talents with diverse strengths in both academic and non-academic fields.
“Therefore, the subsequent selection process becomes crucial to ensure that the best candidates are identified objectively and comprehensively,” he stated.
The Professor from the Faculty of Economics and Business at UNAIR further explained that Quadrant 1 includes applicants with excellent academic and non-academic achievements. Quadrant 2 consists of applicants with strong academic performance and outstanding non-academic achievements. Quadrant 3 includes candidates with standard academic performance, while Quadrant 4 consists of candidates with very strong academic performance but standard non-academic achievements.
“Participants in Quadrant 2 are those proposed to receive the Golden Ticket through the SNBP pathway,” he added.
UNAIR Admission Pathways
According to him, these candidates are currently being proposed to the National Committee for New Student Admissions (SNPMB) in Jakarta.
“To The Next Ksatria Airlangga, we wish you success in preparing for your next stage of education at UNAIR. And to those who must continue striving, never give up on achieving your aspirations,” he remarked.
He also encouraged students who were not selected through this pathway not to lose hope, emphasizing that there are still multiple admission routes to enter UNAIR, such as the SNBT (National Test-Based Selection) and the Independent Admission pathway, which also offers several schemes.
“Wherever we pursue our next level of education, it is part of the best plan from Allah SWT. Our duty is to never stop striving and praying. Do not lose hope, as there are still many pathways to enter Universitas Airlangga,” he concluded.
