EduAsiaNews, Depok – The University of Indonesia (UI) has once again demonstrated consistent performance improvement at the global level by recording increases across all academic disciplines in the QS World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject 2026. This achievement underscores UI’s strengthened position as a globally competitive university, with increasingly balanced progress across various fields.

In the 2026 edition, UI improved its ranking in all broad subject areas. Social Sciences & Management ranked 146th globally, rising from 176th the previous year. This progress reflects the strengthening of UI’s academic quality and its growing global reputation. Overall, UI has demonstrated solid performance with competitive scores across disciplines, highlighting the success of its institutional strategy in reinforcing academic foundations, enhancing graduate employability, and contributing to international scholarship.

Beyond broad subject areas, UI also recorded stronger performance in several narrow subjects. This year, 30 UI subject areas were included in the global rankings, an increase from 27 in the previous year.

Several disciplines achieved top global positions, including Anthropology and Library & Information Management, both ranked within the global top 100; Law, ranked 96th worldwide; and Dentistry, placed within the 51–150 range. Other fields such as Accounting & Finance, Development Studies, Social Policy, and Languages also demonstrated strong performance, ranking within the 101–150 global range.

Additionally, 10 other disciplines, including Economics, Politics, Sociology, Computer Science, and Medicine, were ranked within the 151–300 range globally, reflecting a competitive and continuously developing academic base. These achievements indicate that UI is not only strengthening its leading disciplines but also advancing quality improvements across a broader range of fields.

UI Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, stated that this improvement is the result of UI’s sustained efforts to enhance the quality of education, research, and global collaboration.

“This rise in rankings indicates that our transformation efforts are on the right track. UI will continue to strengthen international collaboration, improve high-impact research quality, and develop strategic fields to address global challenges,” he said.
