EduAsiaNews, Selangor — Monash University Malaysia and the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on March 12, 2026, to strengthen the development of skilled professionals, research collaboration, and innovation in Malaysia’s rubber glove industry.
This partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application through specialized education programs, workforce upskilling, and the development of structured talent pipelines to support the industry’s future growth.
Malaysia remains the world’s leading producer and exporter of rubber gloves, with export revenues reaching approximately RM14 billion in 2025. However, significant challenges persist. MARGMA President Oon Kim Hung noted that more than 80 percent of research and development roles in the sector are currently filled by non-specialists.
As an initial concrete step, both parties will jointly develop a specialized master’s degree program in Colloids and Latex Technology. The program is designed for professionals and engineers working within the rubber glove ecosystem, covering colloid science, latex fundamentals, nanotechnology, advanced characterization techniques, applied artificial intelligence, industrial statistics, and sustainable manufacturing practices.
