EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), through its International Office (KUI), signed a Collaboration Agreement with Malaysia Innovation, Invention, and Creativity Association (MIICA). The agreement was signed together with the Vice Rector for Cooperation and Business of UNJ, Andi Hadiyanto, at the VIP Room of the UNJ Rectorate Building, Rawamangun Campus, East Jakarta, on 13 March 2026.

On the occasion, the Secretary of the UNJ International Office (KUI), Sri Rahayu, stated that the signing of the Collaboration Agreement was carried out in preparation for the organization of an International World Competition. She added that UNJ will serve as a co-host for the major international event.

Sri Rahayu explained that the event will take place from 2 to 7 June 2026. She noted that approximately 1,500 to 1,700 participants are expected to take part in the event and gather at UNJ.

“The competition categories will focus on an Innovation Challenge, ranging from kindergarten to higher education levels. In addition, there will also be an SDGs Workshop. As of today, around 180 teams have registered, with each team consisting of approximately six members,” she explained.

According to her, the implementation of the event will inevitably present several challenges, particularly in providing high-capacity venues and adequate human resources to facilitate the activities.

Sri Rahayu further emphasized that many stakeholders will be involved in this large-scale international event, and the organizers will ensure that all aspects run smoothly in order to enhance UNJ’s reputation at the international level.

She also revealed that UNJ will involve ten student participants in the event, who will first undergo a selection process. She added that the event is expected to have a positive impact, particularly in increasing UNJ’s international visibility, providing recognition for lecturers involved as judges, highlighting student achievements, and generating additional institutional income.

“This activity will contribute to building UNJ’s reputation, providing recognition for UNJ lecturers, highlighting student achievements, and generating income for the university,” she stated.

As part of its efforts to strengthen internationalization, Universitas Negeri Jakarta views its collaboration with Malaysia Innovation, Invention, and Creativity Association (MIICA) as a strategic step to expand global networks while increasing international exposure for its academic community.

Through the organization of an event that will involve thousands of participants from various countries, UNJ will not only serve as a host but also as a hub for collaboration in innovation, creativity, and cross-cultural exchange of ideas. The university hopes that the event will strengthen UNJ’s global reputation, open broader opportunities for research and academic collaboration, and encourage students and lecturers to continue achieving excellence and contributing to the international innovation ecosystem.
