
EduAsiaNews, Bandung — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Namyang Education Foundation and Gyeongsang National University (GNU), South Korea, on Thursday (March 12, 2026) at the Leadership Meeting Room A, ITB Rectorate Building. This collaboration represents a strategic step to strengthen international partnerships in education, research, and the development of academic networks.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, S.Sn., M.Sn., Vice Rector for Communication, Partnerships, Alumni, and Administration at ITB, Prof. Jin-hwe Kweon, President of Gyeongsang National University, and Mr. Sangmyung Lee, Chairman of Namyang Education Foundation.
In his remarks, Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara expressed that this collaboration is expected to open more opportunities for partnership between ITB and its international partners, particularly in the field of education. He emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships through various initiatives, such as scholarship programs, curriculum exchange, academic networking, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
“We hope that the collaboration between ITB, Gyeongsang National University, and Namyang Education Foundation will continue to grow, especially in creating scholarship opportunities, curriculum exchange, academic networking, and the development of multidisciplinary knowledge,” he said.
Prof. Jin-hwe Kweon, President of Gyeongsang National University, expressed appreciation for the opportunity to deepen collaboration with ITB. He noted that South Korea has experienced rapid development in various science and technology fields, including aerospace engineering and STEM-based education development.
“Korean aerospace is now one of the fastest-growing sectors. This provides a great opportunity for synergy, including expert exchanges and the advancement of knowledge,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sangmyung Lee, Chairman of Namyang Education Foundation, expressed hope that the partnership between ITB and Gyeongsang National University would run smoothly and contribute to the advancement of education. He explained that the Namyang Foundation has scholarship programs for international students, particularly at the doctoral (Ph.D.) level, affiliated with Gyeongsang National University.
Through this agreement, the parties agreed to explore several areas of collaboration, including the development of student exchange programs between ITB and Gyeongsang National University, the provision of postgraduate scholarship support for students participating in academic mobility programs, and the strengthening of academic collaboration through partnerships involving the Namyang Yookyoung Foundation as a supporter of scholarship programs and other educational initiatives.
Furthermore, the parties also opened the possibility for further joint collaborations involving ITB, Gyeongsang National University, and Namyang Yookyoung Foundation to enhance scholarship programs and develop international academic collaboration.
This partnership is expected to create more opportunities for students and academics to develop their academic capacities, expand international networks, and strengthen research collaborations across various fields of knowledge.
