EduAsiaNews, Jogyakarta – A warm atmosphere of togetherness and social care was felt during the Ramadan Gift Distribution Ceremony organized by Lazismu UMY at the Amphitheater of the Graduate School of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta on Thursday (March 12). Through this program, a total of 300 Ramadan gift packages were distributed to UMY outsourcing staff, TPA (Qur’anic learning center) teachers, resident preachers (dai mukim), and volunteers who have contributed to social and da’wah activities.

The Ramadan Gift program is one of Lazismu UMY’s flagship initiatives, consistently implemented every holy month of Ramadan as a form of concern and appreciation for community groups that play an important role in supporting campus activities as well as da’wah initiatives.

Executive Operational Manager of Lazismu UMY, Rozikan, S.E., M.Si., explained that the beneficiaries of this program are not limited to outsourcing staff within the UMY campus environment but also include teachers of Lazismu UMY’s TPA, resident preachers, and volunteers who actively support various social programs.

“The recipients of the 300 Ramadan gift packages include outsourcing staff within UMY, as well as Lazismu UMY TPA teachers, six resident preachers currently serving, and our volunteers,” Rozikan stated in his remarks.

In addition to distributing Ramadan packages, Rozikan also highlighted several social programs run by Lazismu UMY that continue to grow, one of which is the Muzakki Request Mustahik program. This initiative allows donors to directly determine the type of assistance that will be distributed to beneficiaries.

He explained that Lazismu UMY recently succeeded in collecting IDR 100 million in donations from two donors for the procurement of medical equipment to be used at AMC Hospital. The equipment will later be utilized by patients from zakat beneficiary groups (asnaf) without being charged equipment usage fees.

“If zakat beneficiaries use the equipment, the usage fee will not be charged. The only possible cost may be the medical staff’s service fee,” he said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Lazismu UMY Office, Dr. Wahyu Manuhara Putra, S.E., Akt., M.Si., stated that the month of Ramadan serves as an important momentum to strengthen social solidarity and expand the bridge of kindness between donors and beneficiaries.

“The month of Ramadan is not only about abstaining from food and drink, but also the best moment to strengthen social care. Lazismu UMY serves as a bridge of kindness between muzakki (donors) and mustahik (beneficiaries),” he explained.

He emphasized that the Ramadan gifts distributed are a trust from donors within the UMY community, including lecturers, staff members, and members of the public who entrust their zakat, infaq, and sadaqah contributions to Lazismu UMY. Although the value of the assistance may not fully meet all recipients’ needs, Wahyu hopes that the packages can serve as a symbol of solidarity and care from the UMY community.

“This may not be much compared to the needs of all of you, but it represents a gesture of solidarity from UMY to the TPA teachers, resident preachers, and outsourcing staff who have contributed,” he said.

On the same occasion, Vice Rector for Resources at UMY, Prof. Dr. Dyah Mutiarin, M.Si., expressed appreciation for the various program innovations continuously developed by Lazismu UMY to benefit the community. According to her, the programs implemented by Lazismu UMY have demonstrated positive achievements and tangible impacts across multiple sectors, including da’wah, education, health, economic empowerment, as well as social and environmental initiatives.

She also conveyed special appreciation to the outsourcing staff who have been an important part of supporting campus operations. According to her, their presence represents valuable human resources who help maintain and sustain the activities of UMY.

“We hope that within UMY there will always be people who care for this campus sincerely and contribute their best efforts. In return, UMY will continue striving to improve the welfare of all employees, including outsourcing staff,” she concluded. (Jeed)
