EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), in collaboration with Nusantara One, held an audience meeting with the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) to explore opportunities for collaboration in strengthening Indonesia’s national energy sector, particularly in the downstream oil and gas industry.

The meeting, which took place at the BPH Migas office, marked an initial step toward building synergy among higher education institutions, regulators, and strategic partners in addressing the challenges of energy transition in Indonesia.

The audience meeting was initiated by Nusantara One through Charles Bonar Sirait together with the Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Prof. Anter Venus. This initiative aims to open avenues for strategic cooperation between academia and energy regulators in supporting policy development and enhancing public energy literacy.

The Secretary of BPH Migas, Patuan Alfons S., welcomed the collaboration initiative. According to him, the involvement of higher education institutions can enrich academic studies while also providing research-based input for the development of national energy policies.

“Collaboration with the academic community is essential to enrich analytical studies and provide constructive input for the development of energy policies, particularly in the downstream oil and gas sector,” he stated.

The Rector of UPN “Veteran” Jakarta, Prof. Anter Venus, emphasized that this cooperation aligns with the spirit of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, which promotes the motto Berdampak (Impactful). Universities, he noted, are encouraged to produce programs and innovations that deliver tangible benefits to society and national development.

Meanwhile, Charles Bonar Sirait highlighted that strengthening collaboration in the energy sector represents part of higher education’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in advancing affordable and clean energy, sustainable development, and cross-sector partnerships.

During the meeting, both parties also discussed several potential areas of cooperation, including the organization of seminars, joint research initiatives, and public education programs on energy governance and fuel distribution in Indonesia.

UPN “Veteran” Jakarta also presented its plan to establish a BPH Migas Corner on campus. This facility is designed as an information, literacy, and educational center on the downstream oil and gas sector for students and the academic community.

Through this collaboration, it is expected that the synergy between regulators and academia will grow stronger in supporting sustainable energy management and strengthening Indonesia’s national energy security.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
