EduAsiaNews, Semarang – The Professional Engineer Program Study (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), once again conferred professional engineer titles upon 94 engineers through the Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) pathway and 11 new engineers through the Regular pathway at the 14th Engineer Oath-Taking Ceremony. The event was held at the Engineering Hall, Prof. Ir. Eko Budihardjo, M.Sc. Building, 5th Floor, on Wednesday, 4 February 2026.

The Prior Learning Recognition (RPL) program is an equivalency and recognition scheme for learning outcomes achieved after completing an undergraduate degree. It recognizes an individual’s learning outcomes obtained through formal, non-formal, or informal education and/or work experience and integrates them into formal education within the Professional Engineer Program. The Professional Engineer Program Study (PSPPI) of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Diponegoro, is one of the study programs at UNDIP that admits students through the RPL pathway.

On this occasion, the Head of PSPPI, Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Widayat, S.T., M.T., IPM., ASEAN Eng., stated that PSPPI has produced a total of 1,276 engineers since its establishment seven years ago. This achievement serves as evidence of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP’s dedication to nation-building by producing high-quality engineers.

“The number of engineers in this period has increased by 105, bringing the total number of PSPPI graduates to 1,276. Alhamdulillah, we continue to implement the Regular program. In this period, the Regular pathway accounts for only 11 graduates, with the majority coming from the Prior Learning Recognition program,” he explained.

Prof. Widayat expressed hope that this graduation would serve as a starting point for the newly certified engineers of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP to continue contributing to national development in a more ethical and professional manner.

“As organizers, we certainly hope that obtaining the engineer title will not mark the end, but rather the beginning, because legal and ethical requirements have been fulfilled in accordance with the Law on Engineering,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., emphasized the importance of responsibility for graduates in upholding the good name of Universitas Diponegoro and the engineer title they have earned. “The engineer title is not merely a designation, but carries significant responsibility, especially after the oath-taking. Therefore, these values must be implemented in professional practice,” he stressed.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Chair of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) of Central Java Region, Dr. T. Ir. Herry Ludiro Wahyono, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., along with the leadership of PII Central Java Region and the Semarang Branch Office. Representatives from various industries partnering with the Faculty of Engineering UNDIP were also present.

The series of events included the recitation of the engineer’s oath led by the Chair of PII Central Java Region, the delivery of congratulatory remarks from institutional leaders, and concluded with a speech by the representative of the newly inducted engineers, Ir. Thomasonan Lutfie Prananto, S.T., M.T. (Public Communication/ FT/ M. Rusmul Khandiq, Ed. Nurul).
