EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has officially implemented a national policy to strengthen the spirit of state defense within the campus environment. Starting this week, all members of the academic community—including lecturers, administrative staff, students, and employees—are required to listen to and sing the Indonesian National Anthem, Indonesia Raya, together every Monday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. (WIB), while standing upright in a respectful posture.
This policy is stipulated in an official announcement issued by the Rector of UPNVJ as a follow-up to Circular Letter of the Minister of State Secretariat Number B-32/KSN/S/TU.00/01/2025 dated January 20, 2025, concerning the Notification to Listen to and Sing the Indonesian National Anthem, Indonesia Raya.
The Rector of UPNVJ, Prof. Anter Venus, expressed full support for the government’s directive. “UPNVJ is known as a State Defense Campus; therefore, we must implement this spirit in our daily lives,” he stated. He emphasized the importance of fostering nationalism and love for the homeland through this simple yet meaningful activity (February 5).
The announcement also emphasizes two main points:
All employees and students are required to participate in singing Indonesia Raya while standing upright in a respectful posture.
Anyone present within the campus environment at the time the anthem is played must temporarily stop all activities and stand upright as a sign of respect.
This policy aligns with similar implementations across various ministries, institutions, and regional governments, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, BMKG, ATR/BPN, as well as several other higher education institutions that have begun enforcing the circular since early February 2025.
As a campus officially designated as a State Defense Campus, UPNVJ views this moment as a concrete opportunity to internalize the values of Pancasila and nationalism into daily routines.
