
EduAsiaNews, Bangka Belitung – Universitas Bangka Belitung (UBB) received a visit from PT PLN Nusantara Power as part of preliminary discussions on a strategic collaboration to be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The visit marks an initial step in strengthening cooperation between academia and the national energy industry.
The meeting was held in the Betason 1 Meeting Room, UBB Rectorate, attended by UBB representatives including the Vice Rector III for Planning, Information Systems, and Cooperation, Dr. Hamsani, S.E., M.Sc., the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FST), Ir. Eka Sari Wijianti, S.Pd., M.T., along with their teams. PT PLN Nusantara Power was represented by Irfan Eko Budiyanto, Junior Expert in Engineering Design, and BRIN was represented by Dr. Suparman and Dr. Kurnia Anzhar from the Deputy for Development Policy Discussion Division.
Dr. Hamsani emphasized that collaboration with PLN Nusantara Power aligns closely with UBB’s vision to enhance academic relevance to industry needs.
“We warmly welcome this MoU discussion as an effort to expand strategic partnership networks and create opportunities for students and faculty to engage directly in collaborative programs,” he said.
Meanwhile, PT PLN Nusantara Power representative Irfan Eko Budiyanto highlighted the vital role of universities in supporting innovation and sustainability in the energy sector.
“Through collaboration with UBB, we hope local stakeholders will engage in inclusive communication and participation that align with community needs, and most importantly, address long-term local and national requirements,” he stated.
The proposed areas of cooperation include scholarships, research, internship programs, student practical work or thesis placements, research opportunities for faculty, guest lectures in relevant fields, and provision of education and training facilities, explained Irfan.
The visit is expected to serve as the beginning of a mutually beneficial long-term partnership between UBB and PT PLN Nusantara Power, contributing tangibly to the development of higher education and the energy industry in Indonesia, he added.
