EduAsiaNews, Surakarta – Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has received a grant of one ambulance vehicle from Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). The handover ceremony took place at the UNS Rectorate courtyard on Wednesday (28/1/2026) and was attended by UNS leadership, UNS Hospital representatives, and officials from BSI.

Ficko Hardowiseto, Regional CEO of BSI RO VII Semarang, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the warm reception from UNS, which facilitated a smooth handover of the ambulance. “This ambulance has finally arrived after a lengthy and detailed procurement process, particularly regarding the bodywork. Alhamdulillah, all stages have been successfully completed and the vehicle is now handed over to UNS,” Ficko explained.

He emphasized that the ambulance is expected to enhance mobility and the reliability of services.

“God willing, this vehicle will provide broad benefits, supporting social service activities, student programs, and as operational backup for UNS Hospital. We hope this grant will be utilized optimally and bring blessings to UNS,” Ficko added.

Ficko highlighted that this initiative aligns with BSI’s tagline as a Financial, Social, and Spiritual Partner. As a Financial Partner, BSI supports various financial transaction needs for staff and students through a range of products and programs.

“Last April, BSI also launched a new initiative, inaugurated by President Prabowo, where, in addition to being a Sharia bank, BSI serves as a bullion bank. Together with Pegadaian, BSI provides gold trading and savings services starting from as low as IDR 50,000, accessible to the entire academic community,” he explained.

As a Social Partner, BSI is strongly committed to zakat distribution. “Alhamdulillah, as a Sharia bank, our mechanism involves zakat deduction before tax. These funds are distributed for social programs, including housing development and other welfare initiatives. God willing, this will bring blessings to all BSI stakeholders and clients,” Ficko said.

As a Spiritual Partner, BSI aims to continuously provide benefits and blessings aligned with its Sharia values.

Ficko also emphasized the ongoing synergy between BSI and UNS. “We hope the collaboration will grow stronger. BSI is ready to provide greater support, both in financial transactions, institutional needs, and scholarship programs. Since 2021, BSI has awarded scholarships to approximately 100 UNS students, and this program continues annually as part of our commitment as UNS’s Social Partner,” he added.

On behalf of the university, UNS Rector Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr. M.Si., extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to BSI. “We highly appreciate the grant of this ambulance provided today,” Prof. Hartono stated.

Originally, the assistance was intended for cafeteria renovation. However, after a needs assessment, UNS determined that an ambulance was far more urgent. Almost every major event at UNS, particularly within the Solo Raya region, requires healthcare support and ambulance services. On many occasions, UNS Hospital must deploy one to two ambulances per day, while the current fleet remains limited, especially for public service.

“Therefore, we have gradually considered expanding our ambulance fleet. Alhamdulillah, BSI has kindly provided this vehicle. We hope it will further support the operations and services of UNS Hospital optimally,” Prof. Hartono explained.

The ambulance will be stationed at UNS Hospital and used to support all activities requiring emergency healthcare services, including academic, student, and institutional events. This grant demonstrates BSI’s tangible commitment to collaboration and synergy with UNS.

In addition to the ambulance, UNS has received other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from BSI, including scholarships and social programs, further strengthening the partnership.

“Going forward, we hope this collaboration can continue to grow, covering Sharia banking services, institutional support, and other mutually beneficial cooperation opportunities,” Prof. Hartono concluded.
