EduAsiaNews, Yogyakarta -The Directorate of Student Affairs and Alumni (DKA) of Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta organized Workshop Seri Bimbingan Karier (WSBK) #11 entitled “Edu-Preneur Pathway: Designing Careers and Businesses in the Modern Education Era” on Wednesday (25/2/2026). The event was conducted in a hybrid format, held offline at the Abdullah Sigit Building, Faculty of Education (FIP) UNY, and online via Zoom Meeting. It was attended by 1,067 participants comprising students and alumni from all faculties and the Graduate School of UNY.
Workshop Seri Bimbingan Karier (WSBK) #11 was fundamentally designed as a strategic platform to assist students and alumni in mapping their future career trajectories, while equipping them with the skills to design sustainable career pathways aligned with contemporary demands. Through the edupreneur pathway theme, the workshop aimed to provide participants with insights into future employment opportunities and challenges, identify relevant competencies, and formulate sustainable career planning strategies. In addition, the program sought to foster collaboration among universities, alumni, and industry in cultivating graduates who are competitive and capable of making meaningful contributions.
The workshop featured three speakers—Warsono Hadi Mulyono, Zaki Laili Khusna, and Dr. Yudan Hermawan, M.Pd.—who shared their perspectives during WSBK #11. They emphasized the importance of cultivating a growth mindset, recognizing opportunities in the digital education sector, and designing value- and impact-driven career paths. In his presentation, Warsono highlighted the need for a mindset shift from merely “teaching” to creating value and knowledge-based solutions. Meanwhile, Zaki encouraged participants to strategically design their career impact, transforming from educators into contributors who add value within the educational ecosystem. Dr. Yudan Hermawan underscored the importance of mental readiness and adaptability among alumni in facing post-graduation realities. He reminded participants that an academic degree serves as an entry point; however, resilience, networking, and the ability to identify opportunities ultimately distinguish one’s career journey.
During the discussion session, Aryo, a Management student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), inquired about the type of career planning and attitudes students should prepare to face the competitive job market. In response, Zaki stressed the importance of hard work and self-reflection. “One thing I have consistently done is work twice as hard to build awareness of my goals. In today’s era, there are many ways and numerous opportunities, but also many distractions. We often fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. Therefore, it is crucial to regularly reflect and ask ourselves about the direction we truly want to pursue,” he stated. He further added that the abundance of opportunities must be accompanied by the courage to explore various possibilities in order to remain competitive.
Through this initiative, UNY reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the sustainable career development of its students and alumni. WSBK #11 is expected to serve both as a space for reflection and as an initial step for participants to shape adaptive, innovative, and impactful career pathways in the modern education era.
