Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has strengthened its higher education internationalization efforts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, on Tuesday (September 1, 2026). The partnership serves as a strategic foundation for both universities to develop collaboration in academic activities, research, scholarly publications, and international community service.
The MoU was signed by UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thakerng Wongsirichot, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs of Prince of Songkla University, representing PSU. The agreement was signed as part of the Indonesia Education Fair and INSPIRE Forum 2026 held in Southern Thailand.
The MoU between UPNVJ and PSU forms part of efforts to expand Indonesia-Thailand higher education networks through a partnership focused on enhancing academic quality and making tangible contributions to society.
Under the agreement, both parties have committed to strengthening and developing academic, research, and community service collaboration based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit.
The agreed areas of cooperation encompass a range of strategic programs, including student exchanges at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; faculty and staff exchanges; short-course programs; online and in-person guest lectures; the development of new academic programs; the exchange of information and publications; and the organization of conferences, seminars, and workshops.
In addition, the two universities have opened opportunities to establish double-degree or joint-degree programs, conduct joint research and co-author scholarly publications, organize student internship programs, and undertake international community service activities.
UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm., stated that strengthening international cooperation is part of the university’s strategy to provide higher education with global competitiveness.
According to Venus, higher education internationalization should not focus solely on enhancing institutional reputation but must also generate tangible benefits for students, faculty members, researchers, and society.
“International cooperation must be translated into concrete forms of collaboration. The exchange of knowledge, academic experiences, and joint research is essential to creating a broader impact,” Venus said.
Through its partnership with PSU, UPNVJ is also strengthening its role as a State Defense Campus that promotes the values of contribution, social responsibility, and service in a global context. The values of State Defense are manifested through the advancement of knowledge, innovation, and cross-border collaboration that delivers benefits to society.
Prince of Songkla University is one of Thailand’s leading higher education institutions, with a strong reputation in academics, research, and innovation. PSU is also one of Thailand’s national research universities and is ranked among the top 10 universities in Thailand according to the QS rankings.
Meanwhile, UPNVJ continues to expand its international partnerships with universities and institutions around the world as part of its efforts to enhance the quality of education. Such partnerships provide members of the UPNVJ academic community with opportunities to broaden their academic experiences, strengthen their research capacities, and build international networks.
