EduAsiaNews, Bangkok – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) showcased the strengths of Indonesian higher education at the Indonesia Education Fair (IEF) 2026 in Thailand by introducing the concept of Jakarta as a “learning space” for international students. Through the education fair, UPNVJ presented information on its flagship study programs, study opportunities, and academic ecosystem, connecting students with the economic, political, and technological hubs of Southeast Asia.
UPNVJ’s participation in IEF 2026 forms part of the university’s higher education internationalization strategy to expand academic networks while promoting the competitiveness of Indonesian education to prospective students worldwide, particularly those from the ASEAN region. During the event, the UPNVJ booth attracted considerable attention from visitors, including prospective students from Thailand interested in learning more about study opportunities in Indonesia.
In his address at the main INSPIRE Forum, UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm., emphasized that higher education institutions across ASEAN need to strengthen collaboration to address increasingly complex global challenges, ranging from digital transformation and social change to the need for an adaptive and future-ready workforce.
According to Prof. Anter Venus, universities serve not only as centers for knowledge transfer but also as spaces where diverse cultures and cross-border innovation converge.
“For international students, UPNVJ offers Jakarta as a real-world classroom. We do not place international students in an isolated academic bubble; instead, we provide them with direct access to the largest economic, political, and digital ecosystem in Southeast Asia,” said Prof. Dr. Anter Venus.
He explained that Jakarta’s strategic position is one of UPNVJ’s key advantages in attracting international students. As the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta offers a wide range of contextual learning opportunities through its proximity to government institutions, industries, international organizations, and professional communities.
In addition to its strategic location, UPNVJ also highlighted its commitment to enhancing academic quality through international accreditation achieved by several study programs. These international recognitions form part of the university’s efforts to ensure that the quality of its education remains competitive at the global level.
Through international accreditation from organizations such as the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA) and the Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN), UPNVJ continues to strengthen its educational standards in line with international academic requirements.
At the exhibition, UPNVJ representatives also provided information on various study programs, scholarship opportunities, campus life, and academic experiences available to international students. This approach represents the university’s efforts to establish closer connections with prospective students while introducing UPNVJ’s identity as a National Defense University that embraces global collaboration.
