EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), in collaboration with the Cinere Community Health Center, organized a Free Health Screening program at the UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, on Friday (September 4, 2026). Attended by more than 250 participants, the activity marked the conclusion of the UPNVJ 2026 Research, Community Service, and Entrepreneurship Week (PekanLit), while also serving as a tangible manifestation of the university’s community service mission, delivering direct benefits to the public.
The health screening services were open to the general public, including UPNVJ faculty members, students, education and administrative staff, as well as residents living around the campus. Enthusiasm was evident from the morning, with approximately 100 participants registering at the beginning of the event. The number continued to increase until the activity concluded at 4:00 p.m. local time.
The services were provided at two locations according to the type of examination. Blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid tests were conducted in the Lobby of the Faculty of Medicine at the Wahidin Building. Meanwhile, breast self-examination (SADARI), as an early detection measure for breast cancer, and IVA testing for cervical cancer screening were carried out at the UPNVJ Primary Clinic.
Doctors and healthcare professionals from UPNVJ, together with the Cinere Community Health Center, provided health screening services and information to participants. The collaboration supported the orderly implementation of the examinations while providing members of the community with an opportunity to gain an early understanding of their health conditions.
One participant expressed appreciation for the free health services organized by UPNVJ, noting that the program made it easier to undergo health examinations without having to visit other healthcare facilities. “I feel that activities like this are very helpful because they allow us to identify our health conditions at an early stage. I hope free health screenings like this can be held more frequently and remain accessible to residents around the campus,” said [participant’s name]. The free health screening program is expected to serve as an initial step toward increasing public awareness of the importance of early detection. The collaboration between UPNVJ and the Cinere Community Health Center also demonstrates that improving public health requires the involvement of multiple stakeholders. In this context, higher education institutions not only fulfill their educational and research functions but also provide knowledge and resources that deliver tangible benefits to the communities surrounding them.
The Free Health Screening program served as the final activity in the UPNVJ 2026 PekanLit series. Following seminars, workshops, research exhibitions, and various academic and community service activities, PekanLit concluded with a program directly addressing the needs of the academic community and the wider public.
The conclusion of PekanLit 2026 does not mark the end of UPNVJ’s commitment to community service. Through LPPM and collaboration with government institutions, healthcare facilities, communities, and various partners, UPNVJ continues to promote programs that connect the outcomes of education and research with real-world challenges faced by society.
