UNNES Inaugurates Four New Professors, Reaffirms Commitment to Excellence in Education and Sustainable Research

EduAsiaNews, Semarang -UNNES has reaffirmed its commitment as a pioneer of educational excellence through the inauguration of four new professors during the Dies Natalis celebrations. This ceremony demonstrates UNNES’s consistent efforts to enhance human resource quality and strengthen the institution’s contribution to knowledge development, research, and community service.

In his remarks, the Rector of UNNES expressed pride and appreciation for the academic achievements of the newly appointed professors. The rank of Professor represents the highest functional position for lecturers and serves as recognition of excellence in implementing the Tri Dharma of higher education. Beyond the academic title, this achievement carries significant responsibility to remain a source of inspiration, an agent of innovation, and a role model for the academic community.

The four newly inaugurated professors have strong academic track records in their respective fields:

Prof. Dr. Bestari Dwi Handayani, S.E., M.Si., Professor of Public Sector Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business, has developed expertise in managing Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) in a fair, transparent, and sustainable manner. Through her research and community service, she promotes collaboration among stakeholders to achieve inclusive, sustainability-oriented village development.

Prof. Dr. Sri Rejeki Urip, M.Hum., Professor of Pragmatics, Faculty of Language and Arts, has introduced innovations in language teaching by emphasizing semantic accuracy and contextual understanding. Her approach enriches language learning to be more contextual, humanistic, and relevant to contemporary communication dynamics.

Prof. Dr. Bernadus Wahyudi Joko Santoso, M.Hum., Professor of Linguistics with expertise in Critical Discourse Analysis, positions language as a social practice that reflects and shapes power relations within society. His contributions strengthen critical linguistic studies, particularly in analyzing public and digital discourse in Indonesia.

Prof. Dr. Nugroho Trisnu Brata, S.Sos., M.Hum., Professor of Development Anthropology, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, views development as a process oriented toward human, cultural, and sustainable life values. Through ethnographic approaches, he actively empowers marginalized communities and promotes development based on local wisdom.

The inauguration of these four professors is expected to further strengthen UNNES’s role as a leading and impactful higher education institution. Their achievements are anticipated to bring prestige to the university, deliver tangible benefits to society, and contribute to national progress through sustainable knowledge and research.
