EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — A total of 719 new students of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIKES), Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), took part in the faculty-level Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) on Aug. 12–13, 2026, at the Center for Vocational Education Quality Assurance Development for Business and Tourism (BBPPMPV Bisnis dan Pariwisata).
Carrying the theme “Unlocking the New Journey: Transforming Ourselves into Health Patriots in the Digital Era,” the program was designed to equip new students to become outstanding, adaptable, and integrity-driven members of the health workforce while strengthening their identity as Bela Negara (national defense) patriots.
According to the latest enrollment figures monitored by UPNVJ Head of Academic Affairs Oki Putra Budiarahman, S.H., the 719 new FIKES students are enrolled across nine educational programs: 66 in the D3 Nursing program, 68 in D3 Physiotherapy, 139 in Bachelor of Nursing, 205 in Bachelor of Public Health, 135 in Bachelor of Nutrition, 70 in Bachelor of Physiotherapy, 16 in the Master of Public Health program, 11 in the Master of Nursing program, and nine in the Nursing Professional Program.
The PKKMB program was designed as an initial gateway for students to become familiar with the academic environment while preparing for the transformation required to navigate the rapidly evolving healthcare sector. Beyond academic competence, students were encouraged to develop critical thinking, collaboration, innovation, communication, and responsible use of technology while upholding ethics and humanitarian values.
The first day began with an opening ceremony and briefing by FIKES UPNVJ Dean Dr. Sri Yani, SST.FT., Ftr., M.Si. New students were introduced to the faculty’s educational governance, development direction, and the roles expected of them as members of the FIKES academic community.
The briefing continued with a panel discussion featuring FIKES UPNVJ Vice Deans Rita Ismail, S.Kp., M.K.M., MTD(HE)., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs; Sugianto, S.E., M.M., Vice Dean for Finance and General Affairs; and Agustiyawan, S.ST.FT., M.Fis., Ftr., AIFO., Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships.
The program also featured external speakers from the health and political sectors, panels with heads of study programs, and sessions with accomplished students. On the second day, students were introduced to various campus organizations and services through panels involving the FIKES Student Executive Board (BEM), FIKES Student Senate (SEMA), KSMI An-Nahl, KSM Batavia, the library, the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS), and the UPA Language Center.
Preparedness as future healthcare professionals was strengthened through an Emergency Class, while students’ technological skills and creativity were developed through the Digital Health Patriot Challenge and Daily Mission of Patriot. These activities were designed to help students understand campus life while beginning to build competencies relevant to the challenges of healthcare in the digital era.
Following the faculty- and department-level activities, the new students were formally handed over by the FIKES Dean to the respective heads of study programs. The PKKMB was then symbolically closed by the Dean, marking the beginning of the students’ academic journey at FIKES UPNVJ.
Through the theme Unlocking the New Journey, FIKES UPNVJ positioned PKKMB as the first step in shaping Health Patriots in the digital era.
