EduAsiaNews, Bandung – Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), through its Academic Senate, convened the 12th Plenary Meeting for the 2024–2029 term, which also marked the first plenary session in 2026. The meeting addressed several strategic agendas, particularly concerning the university’s quality standards as part of the preparation for institutional accreditation. The session was held at the Auditorium of FPEB, 6th Floor, Jl. Dr. Setiabudhi No. 229, Bandung, on Thursday (26/2/2026).
The Chair of the UPI Academic Senate, Yadi Ruyadi, explained that one of the primary agendas of the plenary meeting was to provide formal consideration of the draft quality standards that had been prepared by the Rector.
He emphasized that UPI’s quality standards are of significant importance as they refer to ministerial regulations. Prior to their formal enactment by the Rector, the standards must obtain consideration from the Academic Senate.
Of the total 16 draft quality standards proposed, 11 had previously received the Senate’s consideration. In this plenary session, four additional standards were formally reviewed and provided with input by all Senate members. These four standards cover Community Service, Financial Management, Welfare, and Facilities and Infrastructure.
Before being brought to the plenary forum, the four standards had undergone in-depth discussion by Commission D, which holds a specific mandate for drafting and reviewing university standards. The Commission’s findings were subsequently presented and comprehensively discussed during the plenary session.
Prof. Yadi expressed appreciation for the crucial inputs provided by Senate members. All notes and recommendations will be compiled in writing and submitted to the Rector, whether to supplement, expand, or revise the proposed standards.
He further underscored that as a State University with Legal Entity status (PTN BH), UPI is required to establish quality standards that exceed the National Higher Education Standards. The expansion to 16 standards reflects UPI’s commitment to enhancing governance quality and the implementation of the tridharma of higher education.
These quality standards also constitute a vital component of the university’s preparation for institutional accreditation, which is scheduled to take place next year, with document collection and fulfillment set to commence in June. The Academic Senate, he affirmed, fully supports the Rector’s efforts to ensure that UPI regains its previous “Excellent” accreditation status.
In addition to discussing the quality standards, the plenary meeting also ratified the replacement of a member of the Accreditation Board Council (MBA) representing the Senate. The replacement was necessary as the previous member had resigned from Senate membership following appointment as Dean. By acclamation, the forum approved the appointment of Prof. Deddy Kurniadi as the successor.
The final agenda of the plenary meeting was the replacement of three members of the Academic Audit Committee, which was likewise agreed upon through deliberation and consensus.
