EduAsiaNews, Jakarta – Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) strengthened its commitment to good university governance through a guidance and assistance program for the 2026 Public Information Disclosure Monitoring and Evaluation documents. The activity was held on Monday, 11 May 2026, and featured the Chairman of the Central Information Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Ir. Donny Yoesgiantoro, along with Expert Staff of the Central Information Commission, Siti Ajijah. The program marked a strategic step by UPNVJ to improve the quality of public information services, strengthen transparent university governance, and ensure the readiness of documents for the public information disclosure evaluation process.
In his remarks, Donny Yoesgiantoro emphasized that public information disclosure is an essential component of transparent, effective, efficient, accountable, and responsible governance within public institutions. This principle aligns with the objectives of the Public Information Disclosure Law, which not only guarantees the public’s right to access information but also encourages public participation in policymaking processes. In the material presented, information disclosure was positioned as an important instrument for strengthening good governance while simultaneously improving the quality of information services within public institutions.

For higher education institutions, information disclosure plays an increasingly important role as universities serve as centers for education, research, and community service. The materials from the Central Information Commission highlighted that universities, as public institutions, are obligated to provide information to the public in a clear and transparent manner, establish Information and Documentation Management Officers (PPID), and ensure that information available on PPID websites and applications remains updated and current.

This assistance program also served as an evaluation platform for UPNVJ to strengthen its public information management system in a more structured manner. Siti Ajijah provided technical guidance through discussions on the 2025/2026 Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) Instrument. The discussions were intended to ensure that every indicator of information disclosure could be fulfilled accurately, properly documented, and aligned with the assessment standards of the Central Information Commission.

The focus on good university governance is particularly important because information disclosure is no longer viewed merely as an administrative obligation, but rather as part of broader efforts to build public trust in higher education institutions. In the presentation delivered by the Central Information Commission, the proportional utilization of public information was identified as a means of promoting good university governance. The benefits of information disclosure also include enhancing public trust in universities and contributing to public welfare and prosperity.
Donny also highlighted the urgency of information disclosure in higher education institutions to ensure that the public, government, and stakeholders can transparently understand educational activities and institutional operations. Information transparency is considered capable of preventing misconduct, including public deception, abuse of authority, corruption, illegal levies, and other forms of malpractice within universities. Therefore, transparent university governance is regarded as a prerequisite for maintaining institutional integrity.

In addition to regulatory and governance aspects, the program also addressed the challenges faced by universities amid technological disruption. The rapid and massive flow of information, along with the emergence of hoaxes, misinformation, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things, requires universities to develop integrated data and information systems. In this context, UPNVJ is expected to continue strengthening the digital literacy of its academic community, foster a culture of open bureaucracy, and develop information systems that are responsive to public needs.

Efforts to improve the quality of information services were also directed toward four key principles: availability, accessibility, acceptability, and affordability. These principles require public institutions, including universities, to ensure that information is available, easily accessible, acceptable to the public, and presented in a simple and affordable manner. Through these principles, campus information services are expected not only to meet administrative standards but also to provide tangible benefits to society.

For UPNVJ, the 2026 Public Information Disclosure Monitoring and Evaluation assistance program serves as an important momentum to strengthen the role of the PPID, improve internal coordination, and build a sustainable culture of information transparency. Document readiness, information updates, and the alignment of digital services are essential components of the university’s efforts to respond to increasingly dynamic public needs.

The Head of the UPNVJ Public Relations Working Team, Dr. Firdaus Noor, views the strengthening of information disclosure as part of the institution’s commitment to implementing transparent, accountable, and public service-oriented university governance. Through the assistance program conducted in collaboration with the Central Information Commission, UPNVJ reaffirmed its commitment to establishing information transparency as an institutional culture and as an important foundation for building public trust in the state defense-oriented university.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
