
EduAsiaNews, Jember – Universitas Jember (UNEJ) has once again achieved a notable accomplishment at the national level through its Halal Center.
At the prestigious Indonesia Halal Ecosystem Summit & UB Halal Metric Award 2026, organized by Universitas Brawijaya under the theme “Orchestrating the Halal Ecosystem: Bridging Research, Infrastructure, and Policy,” UNEJ secured two awards: a Copper Medal in the Halal Infrastructure category and a Bronze Medal in the Halal Ecosystem category.
The event, held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Auditorium Algoritma, Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Brawijaya, brought together universities and institutions from across Indonesia committed to developing a halal ecosystem based on research, policy, and infrastructure.
The Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information Systems of Universitas Jember, Bambang Kuswandi, stated that this achievement demonstrates UNEJ’s strong commitment to supporting the integrated development of the national halal industry.
“This achievement is the result of the collective efforts of the entire academic community of Universitas Jember in building a halal ecosystem that is not only strong in infrastructure but also sustainable in terms of research and policy. This award also serves as motivation for us to continue enhancing UNEJ’s contribution to the development of the halal industry in Indonesia,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Halal Center at Universitas Jember, Moehammad Fathorrazi, explained that this accomplishment is the result of various strategic programs implemented by the Halal Center. These include strengthening halal laboratories, assisting MSMEs with halal certification, and integrating interdisciplinary research to support the comprehensive development of the halal ecosystem.
“This award indicates that our efforts in building a structured halal ecosystem are beginning to show results. Moving forward, the Halal Center UNEJ will continue to expand collaboration with government, industry, and academia to accelerate the realization of an inclusive and globally competitive halal ecosystem,” he added.
The event also served as a strategic platform for higher education institutions to share best practices in developing the national halal ecosystem. With this achievement, Universitas Jember further strengthens its position as one of the universities actively contributing to the advancement of an academic-based halal industry in Indonesia, while supporting the nation’s vision of becoming a global hub for the halal industry.
