
EduAsiaNews, Semarang – Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has achieved a distinguished milestone by receiving the award as the Best University in Central Java at the Collaborative Award Central Java 2026.
The award was presented by the Provincial Government of Central Java during the Collaborative Award 2026 ceremony held at Gradhika Bhakti Praja, Semarang, on Friday (20/1), coinciding with the first anniversary of the administration of Central Java Governor and Vice Governor, Ahmad Luthfi and Taj Yasin Maimoen. The award was received directly by UNDIP’s Vice Rector IV for Research, Cooperation, Innovation, and Public Communication, Dr. Wijayanto, S.Sos., M.Si., Ph.D., accompanied by the Director of Innovation and Cooperation, drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D.
UNDIP was recognized for its consistent implementation of collaborative programs that deliver tangible impacts on regional development. These initiatives include the application of innovative technologies, the provision of clean water through desalination technology, healthcare service partnerships, waste management programs, empowerment of farmers and livestock breeders, community service initiatives, as well as the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and assisted villages.
The Rector of Universitas Diponegoro, Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., expressed appreciation for the strong synergy established between UNDIP and the Provincial Government of Central Java. “Collaboration is the lifeblood of higher education in the present era. UNDIP is committed to ensuring that research and innovation do not remain confined to academic journals but are implemented to provide concrete solutions for society. Together, we have undertaken numerous initiatives, from providing clean water for communities in Central Java through desalination technology to flood mitigation efforts along the northern coastal region, among others,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector IV Dr. Wijayanto emphasized that the award represents recognition of UNDIP’s concrete efforts to integrate research, innovation, and strategic collaboration for the advancement of Central Java. “This award acknowledges UNDIP’s commitment to grounding knowledge so that it delivers direct benefits to the surrounding community, particularly the people of Central Java, as reflected in our tagline, ‘UNDIP Bermartabat, UNDIP Bermanfaat,’” he remarked.
According to him, collaboration between universities and regional governments is a crucial element in strengthening science- and innovation-based development. UNDIP consistently promotes research synergy, community engagement, downstreaming of innovation, and strengthened public communication as part of its tangible contribution to regional progress.
The Director of Innovation and Cooperation, drh. Dian Wahyu Harjanti, Ph.D., affirmed that UNDIP will continue to expand its partnership networks and foster impactful collaborative innovation, in line with the university’s vision to become an excellent and globally competitive center of education and research. UNDIP remains committed to supporting strategic programs and development initiatives in Central Java Province.
During the event, the Provincial Government of Central Java also conferred awards upon six regencies/cities and other universities in Central Java recognized for their active synergy in advancing regional development.
This recognition further solidifies UNDIP’s position as a university that excels not only in academics and research but also in fostering a collaborative ecosystem for the advancement and welfare of the people of Central Java.
