EduAsiaNews, Surabaya – In an effort to spread benefits during the holy month of Ramadan, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has distributed 10,000 aid packages to the community. The Ramadan blessing packages will be delivered to orphaned children, orphanages, and underprivileged families.
In his remarks, the Rector of UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, MSi, MFin, explained that Ramadan is a month filled with blessings that encourages people to strengthen their faith, increase good deeds, and foster compassion toward others. According to him, the momentum of Ramadan serves as a reminder that many of our fellow community members still require attention and care.
Social Care
He stated that the distribution of Ramadan blessing packages is a tangible manifestation of the spirit of sharing and social concern within the UNAIR community.
“We hope that this assistance can provide benefits and help ease the burden of the orphaned children, orphanages, and underprivileged families who receive it,” he said.
Prof. Madyan also emphasized that the activity reflects UNAIR’s commitment to becoming an impactful university for society. A university, he added, should not only be a place that produces knowledge and outstanding graduates but must also be present to deliver benefits to the broader community.
“Acts of sharing and social care such as this represent a concrete step taken by higher education institutions to contribute to society. This is also in line with UNAIR’s commitment to various indicators in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, particularly in contributing to poverty alleviation and improving community welfare,” he explained.
He also expressed appreciation and gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and organizers who contributed to the event. Without the support and spirit of mutual cooperation from various parties, this noble activity would not have been possible.
“May every package we distribute today not only provide material assistance but also convey a message of care, togetherness, and hope to those who receive it. May every good intention and deed we carry out today be recorded by Allah SWT as an act of worship and bring blessings to all of us,” he added.
Distribution of Ramadan Blessing Packages Across 18 Regencies and Cities
Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Resources of UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Ardianto, SE, Ak, MSi, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share kindness with others. According to him, the preparation and packaging of the Ramadan blessing packages this year were completed more quickly than in previous years. This achievement, he said, was the result of the collective efforts and cooperation of various parties as well as the educational staff at UNAIR.
“Hopefully the distribution of these Ramadan blessing packages will proceed smoothly, safely, and with abundant blessings,” he stated.
In addition, the Chair of the Airlangga Institute for Learning and Growth, Dr. Eko Supeno, Drs., MSi, revealed that the distribution of Ramadan blessing packages has now entered its 11th year. This year, UNAIR will distribute the packages to 18 regencies and cities across East Java, as well as to orphanages and Bidikmisi scholarship students at UNAIR.
“God willing, the distribution process will take place over three days, from Thursday to Saturday. Hopefully next year UNAIR will be able to distribute the Ramadan blessing packages to an even wider community,” he explained.
This initiative aligns with UNAIR’s efforts to alleviate poverty, as reflected in SDG 1: No Poverty.
