EduAsiaNews, Semarang — Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP) has officially launched an educational partnership with PT Pertamina (Persero) through the Professional Engineer Program (Program Studi Program Profesi Insinyur/PSPPI) at UNDIP’s Faculty of Engineering. The program, inaugurated on Wednesday (Aug. 19) at the Rama Shinta Ballroom of Hotel Patra Semarang, is being attended by 300 selected Pertamina officers who will undertake professional engineering education.

Prior to the opening ceremony, UNDIP and Pertamina signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) covering the implementation of professional engineering education and support for the Professional Engineer Competency Certification (SKIP). UNDIP was represented by Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., while PT Pertamina (Persero) was represented by Rosalia Ambar Yuniarti, S.H., M.M., Vice President of Learning Management at Pertamina Corporate University.

The UNDIP PSPPI program is delivered through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme, allowing participants’ academic qualifications to take into account their professional records, work experience, and technical contributions in industry. All learning activities will continue to adhere to UNDIP’s rigorous academic standards and requirements.

In his report, Pertamina Corporate University Senior Vice President Robby Rafid, S.H., said that 300 participants had been selected from 532 Pertamina Group officers who applied through UNDIP’s independent selection process.

“This professional program is a mandate of Law No. 11 of 2014 on Engineering as well as part of Pertamina’s commitment to strengthening professional human resources standards. Through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) scheme, the experience and tangible contributions of our officers in industry will be academically recognized to support the reliability of Pertamina’s operations and business design,” Robby said.

PT Pertamina (Persero) Human Resources Director Andy Arvianto, M.B.A., C.R.P., expressed his appreciation for the academic quality standards applied by UNDIP in selecting the prospective students.

“Extensive field experience needs to be formally recognized and aligned with international professional standards. This initiative is an investment in Pertamina’s talent development pillar, strengthening specialist career pathways so that they can stand alongside, and even surpass, managerial career tracks. We appreciate UNDIP for maintaining high quality standards throughout the selection process,” Andy said.

Meanwhile, UNDIP Rector Prof. Dr. Suharnomo, S.E., M.Si., reaffirmed the university’s commitment to contributing to national human resource development through closer collaboration with industry.

“UNDIP does not want to become an ivory tower. Research and innovation from universities must work directly with industries such as Pertamina. Through the PSPPI, we seek to foster optimism and produce outstanding engineers who are not only academically competent but also capable of delivering tangible benefits to society and contributing to Indonesia’s progress,” Prof. Suharnomo said.

The participants also took part in an Engineering Professional Sharing Session led by the Chairman of the Indonesian Engineers Association (PII), Dr. Ing. Ir. Ilham Akbar Habibie, M.B.A., IPU., ASEAN Eng., who delivered an inspirational session on the engineering profession.

The session was followed by an introduction to UNDIP’s PSPPI program by Faculty of Engineering Dean Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamari, S.T., M.T., IPU., ASEAN Eng., who explained the program’s academic governance, curriculum, and learning mechanisms.

Through strengthened research capabilities, adaptive academic facilities, and high professional engineering standards, UNDIP is reaffirming its capacity to serve as a key pillar in developing globally competitive human resources.

The strategic and sustained partnership with Pertamina reflects UNDIP’s commitment to moving beyond the traditional role of an ivory tower by delivering concrete solutions, developing engineers who meet international professional standards, and contributing to the sovereignty and sustainability of Indonesia’s national energy sector.
