EduAsiaNews, Depok — Universitas Indonesia (UI), led by Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, received a donation of IDR 123,550,000 from the “Heal Sumatra” collaboration of 100 musicians in partnership with the Universitas Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI), together with the Directorate of Community Service and Social Innovation (DPIS) and the Directorate of Student Affairs and Scholarships, on February 13, 2026. This donation is intended to support 28 UI students from Sumatra affected by recent disasters.

In addition, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) contributed a donation of IDR 300,000,000 to fund a post-disaster psychosocial support program based on psychological first aid in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra. The program is implemented in collaboration with DPIS UI.

All 28 student beneficiaries attended the handover ceremony held at the 9th-floor Auditorium of the UI Rectorate Building, Depok Campus. Rector Prof. Heri Hermansyah delivered an encouraging message to the students.

“My dear students, I hope you can make the most of this assistance to support the realization of your aspirations. Set your goals as high as possible. For example, prove that a UI graduate can become a conglomerate, like Chairul Tanjung. Strive to be an excellent and impactful generation with ‘fists clenched’—continuously working and struggling to uplift the dignity of those in need,” he said.

Prof. Heri added that this assistance represents the values of care and humanity upheld by ILUNI UI and the university. “I hope these values will also inspire you in the future. As alumni, be ready to help and show concern for your homeland,” he added.

The ceremony was also attended by Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, Student Affairs, and Alumni, Prof. Dr. Hamdi Muluk, M.Si.; Director of DPIS, Dr. L. G. Saraswati Putri, M.Hum.; Director of Student Affairs and Alumni, Dr. Dadan Erwandi, S.Psi., M.Si.; and Chair of Field 1 PULSE ILUNI UI, Kirana Diah Sastrawijaya.

Through this financial support, it is hoped that UI students affected by disasters in Sumatra can continue to pursue their studies and maintain their determination to achieve their dreams.
