EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — Amid the intense competition for admission to state universities this year, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) has marked a noteworthy achievement. Two of its academic programs have secured places among the most competitive in the 2026 National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), and one of them only launched its inaugural class less than two years ago.

According to data from the 2026 National University Admissions Selection (SNPMB), UPNVJ’s Film, Television, and Media Studies program ranked fourth among the most competitive academic programs nationwide. Of 831 applicants, only 8 were accepted, reflecting an acceptance rate of just 0.96 percent. Meanwhile, UPNVJ’s Pharmacy program placed seventh, with 1,071 applicants, 12 accepted, and an acceptance rate of 1.12 percent.
These achievements come amid a broader surge in interest in UPNVJ. In SNBP 2026, total applicants to the university reached 22,274, an increase of approximately 12 percent compared to the previous year.

Particularly striking is the standing of the Film, Television, and Media Studies program. It only held its first classes in the Odd Semester of 2024/2025, with an initial capacity of 40 seats. Yet within a very short time, the program managed to attract prospective students on a considerable scale.
The signs of this demand had, in fact, appeared earlier. At the Indonesia International Education and Training Expo (IIETE) 2026, the program was recorded as one of the most visited booths. Prospective students showed keen interest, asking about career prospects, curriculum, internship opportunities, and the program’s industry partnerships.

UPNVJ established the program in response to the growing demand for human resources in the digital media and technology sectors — fields that have expanded rapidly in recent years. Under the 2026 admissions scheme, the SNBP quota for this program stands at only 8 seats out of a total capacity of 40 students, making entry highly selective from the outset.

UPNVJ’s Pharmacy program, meanwhile, continues to demonstrate impressive consistency. In SNBP 2024, it ranked among the ten most competitive programs nationally, with an acceptance rate of 1.49 percent. The trend continued in SNBP 2025 with a rate of 1.45 percent, and it has once again held its position in SNBP 2026.
For this year, UPNVJ has set the SNBP quota for Pharmacy at 12 seats out of a total capacity of 60 students, figures that place this program among the most selective gateways in the state university landscape.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
