
EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Undergraduate Public Health Study Program at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), continues to strengthen its academic and professional competitiveness through the enhancement of educational quality, as evidenced by its achievement of “Excellent” national accreditation and international recognition through ASIIN accreditation. This accomplishment underscores the program’s commitment to preparing graduates who are competent, adaptive, and responsive to the evolving needs of the health sector. The program’s “Excellent” accreditation status is listed on the official website of the Faculty of Health Sciences UPNVJ, while the international ASIIN accreditation was announced by UPNVJ in 2025.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program at UPNVJ, Dr. Chandrayani Simanjorang, S.K.M., M.Epid., conveyed this in an interview held at the Faculty of Health Sciences on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. According to her, the strengthening of the study program’s quality is reflected not only in its accreditation achievements but also in the continuous development of academic resources.
“The undergraduate public health program has achieved ‘Excellent’ accreditation and has also obtained international accreditation from ASIIN. Currently, we have approximately 600 to 700 active students and are supported by 40 permanent lecturers, with a curriculum oriented toward health dimensions,” said Chandrayani.
She explained that the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program at UPNVJ is designed to produce graduates with a broad spectrum of competencies. Students are prepared to take on roles as health managers, researchers, public health educators, and entrepreneurs in the health sector.
The career prospects for graduates of this program are also extensive across various sectors. In the government sector, alumni may pursue careers as health educators, sanitarians, health program analysts, junior epidemiologists, health planners, or civil servants in health offices and public hospitals. In the healthcare service sector, graduates may assume roles in health promotion and disease prevention, quality and patient safety management, healthcare service management, as well as disease surveillance and reporting.
In addition, employment opportunities are available in the private and industrial sectors. UPNVJ Public Health alumni have worked as Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) officers, corporate health promotion practitioners, and medical representatives. Others have been employed in non-governmental organizations and civil society institutions as health program officers, monitoring and evaluation staff, research assistants, and community development officers.
In the fields of research and academia, graduates also have opportunities to develop careers as research assistants, health surveyors, and data analysts in health and basic epidemiology. According to Chandrayani, the wide range of career prospects demonstrates that the competencies of public health graduates are highly востребованы across numerous institutions and sectors.
“The career prospects for public health graduates are very broad, as their competencies can be applied across various sectors,” she stated.
