EduAsiaNews, Jakarta — The Undergraduate Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) continues to strengthen its position as a program aligned with the needs of the workforce. Established in 2000, the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPNVJ has obtained “Excellent” accreditation from LAM Teknik, based on official accreditation data from the Faculty of Engineering UPNVJ. In 2025, the program also underwent the international accreditation process by IABEE as part of its efforts to enhance quality and global competitiveness.
The Coordinator of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPNVJ, Ir. Nur Fajriah, S.T., M.T., IPM, explained that the program’s primary strength lies in its broad competencies and integrated academic structure. Her name and position as Coordinator (Head of Study Program) are also listed on the official website of the Faculty of Engineering UPNVJ.
According to Nur Fajriah, the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPNVJ encompasses four main areas of expertise: industrial management, ergonomics, manufacturing, and supply chain management. These areas are designed to equip students with analytical, managerial, and technical skills required in modern industries, both in manufacturing and service sectors.
She further explained that the scope of competencies for Industrial Engineering graduates is broad and universal. Consequently, graduates are not only needed in factories or manufacturing companies but also in service industries, logistics, consultancy, and business development. Career opportunities for graduates are diverse, ranging from business analyst, production planner, and quality engineer to ergonomist, supply chain analyst, and entrepreneur.
“Industrial Engineering has a wide scope of knowledge, enabling our graduates to enter various industrial sectors. This is one of the advantages that makes their career prospects very broad,” said Nur Fajriah.
In addition to a strong academic structure, the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPNVJ is supported by lecturers who are highly competent in their respective fields. Based on the official website of the Faculty of Engineering UPNVJ, permanent lecturers in Industrial Engineering come from diverse areas of expertise, including ergonomics, industrial management, and other related fields that support interdisciplinary learning.
Nur Fajriah added that several lecturers also hold international certifications, including in supply chain management. This faculty resource support serves as an important foundation in preparing students not only to understand theory but also to address real-world challenges in the workplace.
For prospective students, she emphasized that the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPNVJ offers a combination of strengths, including “Excellent” accreditation, ongoing development toward international recognition, four areas of expertise relevant to industry needs, and the cultivation of a “state defense” (bela negara) character, which is a defining identity of UPNVJ.
She further noted that this “bela negara” character adds value to UPNVJ Industrial Engineering graduates amid workforce demands that require not only technical competence but also integrity, discipline, responsibility, and adaptability. These qualities are essential for graduates to compete professionally while contributing positively to their workplaces and society.
Institutionally, the strengthening of the Industrial Engineering Study Program aligns with UPNVJ’s broader efforts to expand “Excellent” and international accreditation achievements across its study programs. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to delivering adaptive, high-quality higher education that is oriented toward future needs.
The development of the Industrial Engineering Study Program is an integral part of UPNVJ’s agenda to produce graduates who are excellent, innovative, and globally competitive. This commitment is in line with the policy direction of the Rector of UPNVJ, Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, M.A., Comm, in advancing academic quality, international recognition, and the strengthening of the “bela negara” identity across all study programs.(www.upnvj.ac.id)
