EduAsiaNews, Solo — Continuing a series of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) activities in public relations, 32 PR practitioners from UIN Walisongo Semarang conducted a field visit to Griya Solopos on Thursday (April 30, 2026). The visit served as an opportunity for PR officers to directly observe professional practices in media management and issue monitoring.
The university’s PR delegation was welcomed by the Operational Head of Solopos, Rini Yustiningsih. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for UIN Walisongo’s initiative to gain a deeper understanding of how mass media operates.
“We are very open to sharing experiences on how media organizations manage information amid the rapid flow of digital content. Synergy between institutional public relations and mass media is essential in building a healthy and credible public narrative,” Rini stated.
Program Management Exploration
During their time at Griya Solopos, the group was guided by the Division Head of the Program Management Office, Tika Sekar Arum. Participants were taken on a tour of the newsroom, podcast studio, radio studio, and various digital units that drive information production within Solopos Media Group.
Tika explained how program management and media monitoring are carried out in an integrated manner. This aligns with the theme of the Bimtek attended by UIN Walisongo staff, which focuses on monitoring techniques for developing strategic narratives.
“In managing narratives, we do not merely produce content; we must also monitor how audiences respond. Here, we can see how program management ensures that messages are delivered effectively and reach the intended audience,” Tika explained while guiding the group.
Application of Monitoring and Strategic Narratives
The Head of the KKH Team at UIN Walisongo, Muhammad Sirojudin Munir, M.M., who accompanied the delegation, stated that the visit represented a stage of “practical observation” following the theoretical sessions on the first day.
“Observing firsthand how Solopos conducts issue monitoring and manages its multi-platform media channels provides new perspectives for our PR colleagues. We aim to return with higher standards in developing the university’s strategic narratives,” Munir remarked.
The activity concluded with an interactive discussion on future public relations challenges and the exchange of souvenirs as a symbol of strong collaboration between higher education institutions and the media industry. Through this visit, it is expected that the PR team at UIN Walisongo will become more proficient in media monitoring and more responsive to the dynamics of information.
