EduAsiaNews, Semarang – The Men’s Basketball Team of Universitas Semarang (USM) delivered a brilliant performance, clinching the championship after defeating the UKSW Salatiga men’s team in the final of the 2026 Soegijapranata Basketball League (SBL) at GOR SCU, Bendan Campus, Semarang, on Saturday (14/2/2026).
The annual competition featured dozens of student teams from various schools and universities across Central Java.
Under the guidance of Coaches Raden Aztama Valiantda Prabavananta and another coach, USM outperformed UKSW Salatiga with a final score of 67–61, winning by six points. From the first quarter, USM capitalized on multiple three-point shots, preventing UKSW from closing the gap.
Earlier in the tournament, USM defeated Udinus with a score of 81–59, a 22-point lead, followed by a victory against STIKESNAS with 84–78. Facing the host team, Unika Soegijapranata, USM prevailed with a score of 80–70.
USM’s Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Haslina, M.Si., praised the team’s achievement in the opening match of the 2026 SBL.
“We greatly appreciate the accomplishments of all participants in the 2026 Soegijapranata Basketball League, and Alhamdulillah, the USM men’s basketball team advanced to the final and emerged as champions, defeating UKSW Salatiga,” Prof. Haslina remarked.
“With this achievement, the USM men’s basketball team has secured first place in the Soegijapranata Basketball League for five consecutive years,” she added.
Meanwhile, USM Basketball Club Supervisor Ahmad Isy’abul Izzi expressed his delight at the team’s cohesion and solid performance, which enabled them to reach the final and defeat UKSW by a six-point margin.
USM Basketball Club Chair Mohammad Harry Reformasi highlighted the team’s ongoing success:
“First, I am very grateful for the victory of the USM men’s basketball team over UKSW. During training, we consistently review each game to identify areas for improvement for subsequent matches. Coach Vali provided crucial support, particularly in fostering the team’s fighting spirit, while evaluating individual weaknesses to enhance decision-making,” Mohammad Harry Reformasi concluded.
