EduAsiaNews, Surabaya – Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) once again hosted the Durian Festival titled “Durenan Rek!” Vol. 3 at the Athletika Parking Area, Campus II Lidah Wetan. The three-day annual event, held from Friday to Sunday, 13–15 February 2026, was organized by Unesa’s Business Management Agency (BPU) with support from Livin’ by Mandiri and Oppo.

The festival was officially opened by Unesa Rector, Nurhasan (Cak Hasan), along with other university leaders and vice rectors. In his remarks, Cak Hasan highlighted that the event serves as a strategic platform for MSMEs and durian farmers to directly market their harvests to a wide range of consumers.

“This is a tangible expression of the university’s concern for the surrounding community. We want to emphasize that the campus is not only a center for education but also a partner in local economic growth that directly benefits the public,” he said.

Loggar Bhilawa, the event PIC, reported that this year’s festival featured 30 tenants, including 20 durian vendors and 10 supporting food and beverage stalls. He noted that the event serves as a bridge for durian farmers to expand their market reach while stimulating the creative economy around the campus.

“Unesa is not only focused on academic research but also consistently contributes to social and economic development. Through this festival, we aim to be an open, collaborative campus that cares about community empowerment,” he explained.

Industry support also played a role in the festival. Mochammat Anreza Putra, Manager Trainer at Oppo Surabaya, expressed his commitment to supporting positive initiatives at Unesa. Meanwhile, representatives from Bank Mandiri Surabaya Darmo Permai welcomed the collaboration and introduced the Livin’ Merchant digital payment service to help MSMEs digitize transactions.

Festival visitors enjoyed a variety of premium durian types at prices ranging from tens to hundreds of thousands of rupiah. Popular varieties included Mentega, Susu, Montong, and premium Musang King.

In addition to the durian bazaar, the festival featured competitions, games, and live music. Visitor Thobibah Khoirun Nisa shared her excitement: “The prices are affordable and negotiable. It’s a fun moment to enjoy durian while hanging out with friends on campus.”
